Clement was one of my Minor League picks to replace Kipnis when he is through. It would help if he learned to play other positions and become a super utility guy.

Tito liked him in ST which bodes well for Clement. Chang is already playing all over the infield and has power that Clement lacks. IF Kipnis were to be gone in 2020 Chang would be in line for the job immediately. But since Jason's around a little longer either one of them may get a chance before Freeman arrives in the majors.

Civ, I wouldn't waste much time on Franco. His rookie year was last year and he was pounded. This year he is just doing so so. He's a 19 year old righty reliever. 6'3" 170. Walks too many. Allows too many hits and runs. And given his K total not really over-powering either. They must have been desperate...

Angel Martinez on the other hand is kind of interesting, although very early obviously. 17 year old switch hitter. This is his rookie year. .299/.379/.487. ... 7 doubles, 6 triples, 1 HR, 6 steals in 8 attempts.

Martinez was a "Helium" pick on the BA Hot Prospect watch a few weeks ago; never hurts to have a father who was a major leaguer. Maybe there's some hard thrower getting terrible results in our DSL rotation but statistically everyone looks unimpressive.

Agreed.

The other guy that Indians Pro mentioned, Escobedo, he was our 17th round pick this year out of San Diego State. Same school as Greg Allen. Trying to keep the tradition of Tony Gwynn alive.

He is a speedster too, like Allen. With decent size so maybe power will come along better than Allen. 5’11 190.

Lefty

It is still early but he’s been getting on base like crazy, 9 walks to only 3 Ks, and 6 for 6 in steals.

Lynchburg lost 5-2. ... Freeman 1-4. ... OscarG 1-4, R. ... Benson 2-4, 2B, R

Lake County lost 8-6. ... Naylor 1-4, BB, 2 R. ... Cardenas 1-4, 3B, 2 RBI, R. ... Engelmann 0-2.

Scrappers got killed 9-0. They’ve been struggling lately after hot start. ... Rocchio 0-4. ... Delgado 1-4. ... Valera 1-4, 2B.

AZL Teams were off again. Odd. Two days straight.

DSL Indians lost 8-6. ... Burgos 2-5, 2B. ... SRod 2-4, 2B, R, RBI. ... Paz 0-4, BB, R.

DSL Coop got smeared again, off course. 11-5. ... No highlights of note.

Eli Morgan pitched a scoreless inning in all star game tonight, striking out 2. ... Nelson faced 1 batter and struck him out.

Aaron Civale placed on 7 day IL as a precaution with “shoulder tightness”.

Well, I guess that means Civale does not get the start instead of Plesac next week. Sorry to see that

Minors now well past their half way point and McKenzie hasn't pitched in a real game. I think we can knock him his perch as our No. 1 prospect. Jones to the top of the list, with Freeman and Valera and Hankins behind him.

I no longer find the BA prospect chats before the fact so can't complain anymore that my questions aren't answered. McKenzie did come up in a chat this week with no info provided but a bit of a teaser:

Hi Kyle, What is going on with Triston McKenzie, back injury occurred in March, no word out of the Indians. Is this a full season scrap? Thanks

Kyle Glaser: I believe the indomitable Teddy Cahill will have a complete update in the Midseason Update. So again, check back next week

Injury update from Goodyear: Indians' No. 1 prospect Triston McKenzie (upper back strain) has progressed to throwing live batting practice in Arizona.

He started throwing about a month ago in Arizona. Have to think he should be making a start soon.
