Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports that Josh Donaldson is out of the High-A Dunedin lineup due to soreness in his calves and legs.

Josh Donaldson for the ole PTBNL?
Thank you Mark Shapiro.
If healthy this could be big. That is the if though. Hasn't been right last two seasons. But he just started rehab process in minors. Should be back soon.

Of course we are reading now that the tight ass Indians received 2.7 mill as part of the deal. But ..
.
Jeff Passan @JeffPassan
If Josh Donaldson is healthy and anything close to his typical self, this is a game-changing deal for the Cleveland Indians. A middle of the lineup with Francisco Lindor, Jose Ramirez, Donaldson, Michael Brantley and Edwin Encarnacion is perilous for pitchers.
.
Pretty much.

"We had a chance to scout him and watch him play games this week in Dunedin," said Antonetti. "We were really encouraged by what we saw."
Enough said. Then they had to take the chance.

I haven't seen it mentioned, but what if the
Tribe was blocking someone from getting him.

No, he passed all the way through unclaimed. No one ( I repeat NO ONE) wanted to take the chance at his full remaining salary.
So they went to Shapiro/Atkins afterwards inquiring on a trade. Anyone could have done that. And many did according to sources.
As someone mentioned, Shapiro/Atkins obviously have extra knowledge of the Tribe system so that had to help along with the relationships with Chernoff/Antonetti.
Merryweather has been mentioned as the PTBNL

I can't believe we let McCutcheon get to Yanks. Damn, that ticked me off.

Indians (C) prospect Eric Haase has been promoted to Cleveland and will make his his MLB debut! Haase has back to back 20 HR seasons and is solid defensively. Promotion well deserved.

Cy Young vote in the AL will be interesting. Sale has by far the best OPS and avg against and K/IP totals. But he's been out for weeks and his innings total has dropped to 22nd. Snell is second on in a number of categories. Verlander and Kluber are leading their teams to the playoffs. I think I'd vote for Snell if we don't see much more Sale but it's a tough choice this year. Bauer was the obvious No. 2 choice before he got hurt but missing a month or month will hurt his possibilities too of course

ESPN has something called a Cy Young predictor. After today's outing, Corey is on top with 161.7 Cy Young points. Whatever they are. He's 0.6 ahead of Blake Treinen --- if voters want a reliever. Snell follows at 157. Then after relievers Edwin Diaz with 150.4 and Kimbrel with 1483 is Verlander at 147.1.
Corey could win his 3rd Cy Young while the Indians keep him paying at a seriously discounted salary. He's quite a bargain.

That predictor penalized Bauer and Sale for their down time - and I agree that may hurt them. Remember human voters do this thing though.
Sale in particular is not out of it at all.

Is Sale back? Or coming back soon? His innings total is only about 147

In case anybody doesn't follow Minor folder I'll post this here.
Josh Donaldson started his rehab in Columbus this week and hit a grand slam.
That was Columbus' last game of season, so last night Donaldson continued his rehab in Akron since they started their playoff series.
He hit another homer...
Both to right-center ...

Some of you may remember the series of appearances Donaldson made on MLB network back a year or two - this guy is a student of hitting.
Another thing in favor of the gamble they are taking.

There is a team (the @Indians) with two infielders (Jose Ramirez and Francisco Lindor) with 30 HRs and 20 SBs this season. The last time that happened was... never.
