Field, 26, debuted this year and posted a .213/.253/.373 slash line with six home runs in 169 MLB plate appearances. Clearly, that’s not going to get it done, though it was only a first attempt at the game’s highest level. Field, who is capable of playing in the corners or up the middle defensively, has a .270/.320/.436 batting line in his 805 career plate appearances at Triple-A.

.272 .331 .444 career slash line in minors, and good for 12 to 14 homers, 16 to 18 stolen bases, per year.

He is a right handed bat though that has hit 280, 290, and 300 the last 3 years against lefties.

He also plays all three OF spots, and majority of his games have been in CF.

Does that 60 day DL move change things for Miller?

It's amazing how injuries are minimized in the initial releases by the Tribe then all of a sudden they turn into major long term problems. I thought Zimmer was on his way back ....operation...out for a year. Now Millier, who was just working through some pesky little problems, was doing great.....transferred to the 60 DL.

What's next.

Guys I think you may be reading too much into the 60 day DL move for Miller. He last pitched 5/25. So his 60 days are up Thursday.

They just changed it to 60 day dl to open up a spot on roster for Fields.

However, I am still concerned about Miller. His last outing in Columbus he was just throwing 92-93 again.

This is not the Miller of ‘16 who was throwing 97-98 and dominating.

So is it so crazy for us to go after another good reliever?? After all Miller is still ??? And even if he is back, the Yankees' pen is still better.

Even though my wife thinks Curtis Granderson will be our target for CF to continue our collection of former Tiger CF'ers -- and honestly, with Granderson in Toronto now where Mark Shapiro and Ross Atkins now run the show and know our farm system as well as anybody -- I think we should consider this Tiger CF'er instead.

Adam Jones may be the biggest name out there, but any contender in need of a center fielder should consider Leonys Martin first.

He's long been known for his defense, and everything is A-OK in that department. Whether it's defensive runs saved, ultimate zone rating or outs above average, the metrics approve of Martin's glove work.

Meanwhile, Martin has found his hitting stroke to the tune of a .746 OPS. He's tightened up his plate discipline and upped his launch angle. The chief result is more power than he's had in years.

The Detroit Tigers are paying Martin just $1.8 million, and he must go through arbitration one more time before entering free agency after 2019. As such, he wouldn't just be a temporary solution.

Martin had a couple solid years in Texas where he hit 260 - 270 with 30 steals. And as it says above, good defender. Might be a solid stop gap measure to do us until Zimmer or Allen get their act together.

Not necessarily. There's still tons of bullpen arms out there and it's only July 26.

Infielder Brandon Drury would go to Toronto along with Triple-A outfielder Billy McKinney in the deal, according to ESPN and multiple reports.

Happ is 10-6 with a 4.18 ERA in 114 innings pitched for the Blue Jays this season. The Yankees are looking to bolster their starting pitching, and Happ has had success against the Red Sox, the Yankees' chief rival in the American League East, with a 0.84 ERA in two starts against Boston this season. In his last outing against the Red Sox, he gave up five runs, including a grand slam to Mookie Betts, in a 6-4 loss, but the runs were unearned. He is 7-4 with a 2.98 ERA in his career against the Red Sox.


IMO: Happ is not much, but the Yankees starting pitching is their weak link. He'll be better than the miserable Sunny Gray and Gerrman

McKinney was a big deal when they got him the same year they dealt Miller to us but he's been getting worse as his career doesn't progress. Drury, who has played all of the infield positions this season, is batting .176 in 18 games in the majors. McKinney has spent most of the season in the minors. In 62 games at three levels, he is hitting .230 with 13 home runs and 35 RBIs. He is currently at Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre. McKinney was drafted in the first round (24th overall) of the 2013 draft by the Oakland Athletics. The Yankees acquired him from the Cubs in the trade that sent Aroldis Chapman to Chicago in 2016.
