Plutko bounced back with an excellent start. He pitched 4 no hit innings. Allowed a homer and a single in the 5th and called it a day. He may well be a better bet than Anderson at this point.

Since we have only team in action today, Columbus' one hit for the day was the one hit for our farm system.

BA Hot Sheet includes:

5. Nolan Jones, 3B, Indians
Team: High Class A Lynchburg (Carolina)
Age: 21
Why He's Here: .625/.786/1.000 (5-for-8), 1 2B, 1 3B, 0 HR, 4 RBIs, 6 BB, 1 SO, 1-for-2 SB

The Scoop: Jones led all Indians minor league hitters with 89 walks last year. He's probably going to lead the farm system in walks again, with 25 through 32 games. Cleveland's No. 2 prospect, Jones hit 19 home runs a year ago but has yet to go deep this season. (BB)

10. Bobby Bradley, 1B, Indians
Team: Triple-A Columbus (International League)
Age: 22
Why He’s Here: .563/.588/1.250 (9-for-16), 4 R, 2 2B, 3 HR, 7 RBIs, 1 BB, 4 SO

The Scoop: The Indians’ No. 7 prospect has the best raw power in the system, and it continues to translate well in games. Against Triple-A Charlotte, Bradley had 11 total bases and hit two home runs as a part of a four-hit game. He followed up that performance with a three-hit game and another bomb. While he isn’t striking out as much, it still is an issue for him and needs to be worked on before making the next step. (JC)

Scared me when I first saw that, but nothing arm related. Right hamstring strain.

still disappointed.
They can promote Sandlin to Columbus to fill his spot in the pen.

well I see 13 pitchers on the active roster, so I guess there's no room for Sandlin. But they can make room whenever they're ready for him. I imagine that Brook Pounders, for one, could be deactivated whenever

also noted from rosters that others recently added to the DL are local favorites outfielders Mitch Longo and Austen Wade
My friend Loopstok appeared briefly in Lynchburg but has disappeared again.
Jose Fermin and Marcos Gonzalez remain on LC DL

Big news so far tonight:

Johnson with his 7th homer a 3 run job for Akron.
Ka ai Tom continues his hot bat, 4th homer of the season, 3rd in 2 nights, and a second hit in his 2 at bats.
Tanner Tully with 4 shutout innings. Same thing for Shane McCarthy.
Quentin Holmes with his first homer.

But the shocker, Oscar Gonzalez took a 4 pitch walk. From what I can tell it was not intentional; the bases were empty at the time. That is his first free pass since August 16, 2018, and second since July 14, 2018. Less surprising, he also has a 2 run triple.

Wow! That is news!

That pitcher must have been wild as hell and not even close. Like Nuke Laloosh, hitting the mascot type of wild.

Somehow they leave out The Walk in the game writeup

By Lynchburg Hillcats | May 13, 2019 9:36 PM

Lynchburg, Va. - The Lynchburg Hillcats cruised past the Mudcats on Monday evening, cashing in on a big first inning to win, 4-2, in the series opener.

The Hillcats (18-17) received a terrific performance at the plate from Oscar Gonzalez , who went 2-for-3 with a triple and a double to lead Lynchburg to the win.

Lynchburg got the scoring started right away in the first inning. Steven Kwan led the frame off with a single to break an 0-for-14 stretch. Jodd Carter traded places with Kwan on a fielder's choice and Nolan Jones followed him up with a single to put two on with one out. Gonzalez ripped a triple into center field, scoring both Carter and Jones to give the Hillcats a 2-0 lead. After Trenton Brooks walked to put two aboard, Gavin Collins plated Gonzalez with a sacrifice fly to finalize the first-inning scoring for Lynchburg, who led 3-0 after an inning of play.

The Mudcats would strike back in the third inning. Devin Hairston drew a one-out walk and Joantgel Segovia reached base on a throwing error by Hillcats starter Matt Solter (Win, 1-0) to put two aboard. Tristen Lutz ripped an RBI double down the left field line to score Hairston and cut the Lynchburg lead to 3-1.

In the top of the fifth inning, Zach Clark led off the frame with a triple. Hairston's RBI single scored Clark and made it a 3-2 Hillcats advantage.

Looking for some insurance, Gonzalez reached second base on a one-out double. Brooks singled to move Gonzalez to third, and Collins drove in Gonzalez for the second time on the evening with a sacrifice fly to expand the lead to 4-2.

The Hillcats bullpen shut down the Mudcats over the final three frames to seal the Lynchburg victory.

Solter, making his first career start for Lynchburg, completed six innings while allowing two earned runs on six hits and two walks, striking out seven batters. Yapson Gomez , Anderson Polanco , and Robert Broom (Save, 1) combined for three scoreless innings.

Nelson Hernandez (Loss, 4-1) allowed four earned runs on five hits and two walks over six innings while striking out two. J.T. Hintzen tossed the final two frames, allowing no runs on one hit and one walk.

The Hillcats and Mudcats will meet again on Tuesday in the second game of the series. Matt Smith (1-3, 4.38) will take the mound for Carolina, while Justin Garza (3-3, 6.15) will start for Lynchburg. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.

Max Gun and Anders Jorstad will be on the air at 6:20 p.m. with the Hillcats pre-game show on TuneIn Radio and the Radio434 App.

Homestand highlights include Aloha Weekend with a postgame fireworks show on Saturday, Kids Eat Free Tuesday, Winning Wednesday, and Thirsty Thursday. Additionally, Hillcats vs. Cancer is on May 17, Pirates vs. Royalty Night is on May 18 and Cats Cares Night is on May 25, where all fans can enter the game for free but are asked to give a donation at the box office of their choice to a pre-selected charity.

After the game his teammates presented him with a game ball, with writing on it signifying his first walk. Kinda funny.

Really? That's pretty good if it happened, and a good joke if it didn't.
