Michael Brantley said he read the negative stories about him all winter: “I think the negative posts should be writing thank you cards to the upper management.”
A one year and $12 million option pick up on this guy was a no brainer. It is now, and was all along. Sure fans were frustrated but this guy's mechanics and approach are immaculate and was totally worth the minimal one year gamble.

Oh, my post wasn't a reply to anything you or anyone posted. Just thought it funny. "Kipnis has 3 extra base hits and 5 RBI the last 18 games. How great is that?!" Tickled me, as my mom would say.
I totally agree with Seagull. No choice but to play him now and hope he comes around.
And if anybody ever shows a little interest I'd pull the trigger quick before they changed their mind. This is definitely starting to smell like Baerga.

The money in Kipnis' contract is the holdup. No team is looking for a second baseman with a contract like that.
Even if the Indians eat the rest of this year's money, it's next year's money nobody wants.

Dear Chris Antonelli,
As recommended by Michael Brantley I thank you for signing this hitting machine to a 1 year deal despite my recommendations to the contrary. What do I know? That was apparently your reaction and I applaud you for it. I suppose I still could complain and ask why you didn't sink Michael to a long-term deal at the discount he price that he would probably have accepted last winter. But it's probably not to damn you or if you did and simultaneously damn you if you didn't.
Thank you again for your devotion to building a winner in Cleveland. May I still be as bold as to suggest to see if you can get Cody Allen signed before the season ends and save one good arm for our bullpen.
Yours sincerely,
Civ Ollilavad
[you're not old enough Chris to know the reference; look at the Indians roster for 1965 and try spelling all the names backward and you'll figure it out]

anyone noticed that Melky's hitting the ball just about as well as Davis and Guyer?
Guyer 150/224/355 579
Cabrera 179/233/286 519
Davis 211/265/244 510
When all the injured OFs return, it will be a tough call which of these guys to keep. Of course, they could all go, since we have 3 on the DL besides Guyer.

Melky is done. Can't hit the heat. Won't finish the season with the Indians.

Minor league rehabs are time-limited. Chiz and Zimm will be back soon. We are carrying one extra AAA pitcher so only one OF is at immediate risk.
You're guessing it'll be Melky?

I don't think it will be Melky at all. And I don't think he's done. Just behind the curve with no spring training or April for that matter.
I know it is a biiiig stretch but I do think pitchers still know what this guy can do and he's stretched out that lineup - especially being a switch hitter as well.
This guy is still a good hitter period. We will see.
If it were me I would send Zimm to AAA since he is obviously far from a finished product and we can now cover CF.

Chisenhall, Zimmer, and Guyer all played tonight for Columbus. Chiz homered.
I think Chisenhall will be up soon. I'd drop Davis. He's like our 4th best CF'er now when people are healthy. He sure looks done to me.
Allen will go down when Zimmer comes up. But I would not be in any hurry about it...
I agree that I think Melky will come around. I don't even think I'd bring Guyer back, since Melky is a switch hitter. Just DFA him when he's due to come back.

Jose is on pace for 51 homers and 51 doubles.

Albert Belle was a 50-50 guy in 95. Can't remember if that was the corked bat year or not.

No, the corked bat incident was the strike year, 94. He had the 50-50 the world series year of 95.

HB or others - time to package Mejia for some relief help?
I am talking Andrew Miller-ish large type of deal here for at least one very good reliever.
