Speaking of drop offs Guyer is not hitting well or getting hit well. If Cabrera is coming he is a possible toss.

you have an advantage by actually watching them play; defense is hard to rate when just following a game on-line or maybe the radio

Totally agree there too.

HB - totally agree with you too on moving him - although I still think he gets on a hot streak (EE too). But even so I'd rather see other options at 2B

If I am the Tribe I am on the phone with Seattle negotiating how much money the Tribe will swallow in a deal. Even if they swallow half they still overall save half - and they have the replacements ready to go.

I remember HB saying Tito wouldn't do that - but the fact that Melky is RH might change that equation.

Indians Prospective @indiansPro
Bradley Zimmer update: Zimmer has a huge hematoma and a strained ligament in his chest. Told by source he’s going to try to play Tuesday.

Andre Knott said during the game he thought Zimmer would be DL'd after the game.

Maybe Melky comes up; is he ready? No other outfielders on the 40 man roster who aren't hurt. Other than sort of Mejia who's played OF half the time in Columbus and he's been hurt too, although he must be ready to play since Salters was returned from Columbus to Akron. But I am certain Francisco is not ready to return to Cleveland as an outfielder.

DETROIT -- Bradley Zimmer took the field for the Indians' pregame workout at Comerica Park prior to Monday's game against the Tigers, but the center fielder remained out of the starting lineup for the sixth time in the past seven games. Cleveland is now weighing whether a trip to the disabled list is in order.

Zimmer, who continues to feel the effects of a violent crash into the center-field wall at Yankee Stadium on May 5, has still experienced discomfort while swinging a bat in recent days. Indians manager Terry Francona has noted that the primary issue has been bruising of Zimmer's chest.

"He's going to go out and see what he can do and how he feels," Francona said before Monday's game. "Today's probably a day where we're getting to where we'll make a decision. Is he getting to a point where he can play, or do we need to DL him? I'd say today's a pretty important day for him."
Zimmer last played on Wednesday in Milwaukee, but the Indians only have the ability under Major League Baseball rules to make a DL stint retroactive by three days. That means, if Zimmer is placed on the 10-day DL, he will need to be deactivated for a minimum of seven days before rejoining the roster.

Francona said Zimmer would do as much activity as he could tolerate on Monday.

"If it's bothering him, I don't think we want him to continue. But, if he's doing good, yeah, we'll let him," Francona said. "He's a pretty tough kid. He doesn't want to go on the DL and I don't think anybody's pushing him to it, but we're coming up on maybe almost a week. It just gets to a point where it probably makes some sense."

Zimmer still cannot go so they are indeed placing him on DL. Retroactive to few days back I assume.

They brought up Nail Ramirez who has been doing very well in Columbus pen. Striking a ton of guys out. He's had 5 stints in majors before though and never stuck. But we can hope. He had thirty something K in 17 innings in AAA this year. Hopefully he'll keep missing bats.

To make room on 40 for him they placed Merritt on 60 day DL.

Well Merritt will not be Tomlin's replacement. And neither of course will be Danny Where is He Now Salazar. I guess it's a competition between Plutko and Bieber.

Interesting they replaced Zimmer with a pitcher. They are out of outfielders. Brian Barnes is hitting well for Columbus, but I guess more arms in the pen the day Tomlin takes the mound is a good idea.

Jordan Bastian @MLBastian

Indians moves:

•RHP Adam Plutko recalled from AAA Columnbus
•OF Brandon Guyer (neck strain) to 10-day DL

Guyer joins Indians outfielders Brandley Zimmer (left rib contusion), Lonnie Chisenhall (right calf) and Tyler Naquin (left hamstring) on the shelf.

Fun fact: Michael Brantley actually led Indians outfielders in games played last season.

Whatever is in the starting pitcher water needs to shared with that bullpen! So odd to have such a stud starting staff and trash pen.

I guess we were due for a crappy bullpen though been pretty lucky the last couple years.

Hey HB - I see Seattle traded for our old bullpen buddy Colome last night so evidently teams DO make trades in May.
