I hate to see Adam Everett go, but only because he was a South Carolina guy.


I know many here would be pretty happy to get rid of Travis Buck, but I still think he has a ceiling he has not reached, and much to contribute in our drive to the 2011 playoffs.

And I like Hannahan, too. I know he hasn't contributed much offensively lately, but it seems like many successful postseason teams of the past had had defensive and sort of fast guys like Hannahan on the roster.

Indians manager Manny Acta said it would "foolish" for anyone to think the struggling Grady Sizemore is 100 percent.
"It would be foolish for every one of us to think he's 100 percent," said Acta. "Check out Carlos Beltran with the Mets. Grady is coming back from microfracture surgery. That's why we're still monitoring his playing time. He's done well. He's caught some good balls at home." Acta has no plans to give Sizemore, who is batting just .185 (20-for-108) since coming off the DL in late May, extra rest. "You guys know him better than me. Unless he's half-dead, he wants to be out there and he'll be out there," said Acta, "as long as he's ready."

Judy may be headed up

While his teammates were digging into the post-game dinner or moving slowly toward the shower, Clippers closer Josh Judy already was dressed in street clothes and packing his bag after tonight's game in Toledo. He appeared both happy and in a hurry.

No move has been announced but I'm guessing…

Judy will be up to help filling in for Perez.

Indians recalled RHP Josh Judy from Triple-A Columbus.
Judy pitched a scoreless inning back in May for the Indians in his lone appearance with the big club this season. He boasts a 3.30 ERA and 11.7 K/9 rate in 30 innings for Columbus. Judy will be up with the Tribe while Chris Perez is on the bereavement list.

Perez's grandmother recently passed away. He's allowed a maximum of seven days but is expected to rejoin the team on Sunday. The Indians will likely go with a committee approach to replace him, with Tony Sipp, Rafael Perez and Vinnie Pestano all representing possibilities for the ninth inning. Josh Judy has been called up from Triple-A Columbus to take Perez's spot on the roster.

7 days is long time off for grandma's funeral. Pretty good fringe benefits for these guys. How much does the team contribute to their 401k? I know they get vacation time at a minimum from Nov-January. Is there player contribution for dental? vision?

Some professions charge by the hour, even if you call them on the phone, and just ask a brief question...

My grandmother would have told me to blow off her funeral and just go play ball.


That said, our relievers back in Ohio need to man up and give us a good weekend as our closer needs to do what he has to do for him and his family.

Dont know about these ball players. I went to my grandmother's funeral and was back at work the next day.

Well, Perez is only missing yesterday and today.

With a win today, Tribe could finish this 9 game stretch vs the NL(and on the road, including the West Coast) at 5-4.

I'd call that good.
