There are three types of minor leaguers....prospects, organizational players and favors.

Nap is definitely in the favors category.

2 homers for Kipnis today. Trying to make a statement?

Tito's comments make it clear that Napoli is simply getting the chance to show off his remaining skills to any other team that may want to give him a contract. Cavs did the same thing with an old center last fall; I forget who, but you guys know; now playing with the Canton team, hoping to become an assistant coach.

Yeah, it's a win/win because if they have some crazy injury issues then they have him as insurance too.

TFIR: I said last year I would not be so quick to write Kip out of lineup or ship him off. He's an all star for a reason. Dude is a good player. Just keep Jose at 3rd and be happy to have two all stars. It isn't like Kip kills you at 2nd. He's fine. Not as good as Jose but does fine.

We had a couple bad breaks with injuries last year with him and Brantley. That is two all stars out of the lineup.

I hope they both get back this year. I have no doubt they will perform if healthy. They're not washed up. Just been beat up.

When I rechecked stats, I see Kipnis was very solid in 2016. So I'll agree: stay healthy Jason and we have a very strong offensive infield. Hard to guess there's a better one

Unfortunately, players with a history of injuries tend to continue sustaining injuries.

Injuries have ended far more careers than diminishing talent.

I hope Kipnis finishes his career injury free....but I doubt it.

Tribe is showcasing him hoping they can dump his contract.

I worry more about Brantley in that regard than I do Kipnis. Last year was first season Kip hasn't had 500 at bats. Not what I would consider injury prone or sustaining anything that would diminish his skills.

Brantley on the other hand, I love the guy, but starting to get concerned. He's been getting injured alot, and the shoulder injury could be something that saps his power. He never had a ton to begin with. I know our old pal J.R. was very pessimistic about his chances moving forward.

Interesting that not a word about Carrasco on the Indians website or reports from Hoynes. Anything from other sources? Carrasco is vital to our success
