Re: Fantasy Ball
92No-hitter for Lirianoi = 61 points. BUT the team that has him, the Titanz, had him on his bench tonight!
Re: Fantasy Ball
94But it's still painful to leave that many points on the bench. Too bad, b/c the Titans are in last place now, and could have used a boost.
LHP Francisco Liriano, whose spot in the rotation was in danger due to a poor start to the season, threw a no-hitter against the White Sox. Liriano wasn't always in complete control, as he walked six and struck out just two in the Twins' 1-0 win. He needed 123 pitches, with the last being lined to shortstop by Chicago DH Adam Dunn. Liriano also caught a break when Gordon Beckham was called out at first base on the back end of a double play to end the eighth inning. Replays appeared to show that Twins 1B Justin Morneau was off the base and that he missed the tag on Beckham. Liriano entered the day 1-4 with a 9.13 ERA through five starts, and manager Ron Gardenhire had admitted that Liriano was on a short rope in terms of his stay in the rotation.

Re: Fantasy Ball
95I would have had him on the bench too.
Ouch!

97DONNA: That would be my friend Alan, of the Skull Crushers. A couple weeks ago he was in last place. He is now only 49 points out of 1st!
Re: Fantasy Ball
98Not hard to do if you are +73 innings with your pitching staff.
He does have a decent team though.

99Plugging in a bunch of IP brings you out of the basement in a hurry. This is the only year I've ever been able to stay on the plus side without overloading on pitchers. Supriningly, Im in 1st.
Keep riding the wave. Last at bat, first at bat, doesn't matter. Just win!
Re: Fantasy Ball
101I havnt posted it yet, but, weaver and Haren are going on the trade block. Can weaver keep it up? Who is willing to gamble?

102+73 is definitely a bit over the top.

Re: Fantasy Ball
103Fantasy ball is increasing my enjoyment of watching games. Last night was a great example. I was looking at Stattracker, and noticed I had a chance to overtake the badabings for 3rd place. It was past midnight and all games were done, except for the Angels - Red Sox, who had been in a rain delay. I was 3 points ahead of badabings as they headed to the 9th. So I checked to see if he could get any more points. Wouldn't you know, he had the Angels closer, Walden. They were up 3-1, and I figured he would probably get a save and pass me in the standings. But Walden blew the lead, in the process letting a couple of my guys on the Red Sox get more points.
If it weren't for the fantasy league, I would have gone to bed, and missed an exciting comeback by the Sox (they lost in the 13th inning, at about 2:30 AM!)

Re: Fantasy Ball
104I picked up Homer Bailey, but didn't roster him today b/c he was fresh off the DL. Of course he is doing great, and it appears he will get the win today. Dangit!
Edit: Looks like he will get 27 points. Oh well, I still have him for his next start...

what can we expect from homer bailey? is he a good start today?

I don't care how well Homer Bailey pitched during his rehab stint, there's no way he'll be in my lineup today. He can throw a no-hitter for all I care, all it's going to do is make him a quick activation for Start No. 2. Bottom line is, Bailey fits my past-chats description of the guy who isn't an elite fantasy option who has missed considerable time, and the smart play with those is to always be conservative.
