Although rosters are still incomplete, there are some interesting players on the AZL1 Indians team. including last year's draft picks OF Quentin Holmes who can run but can't necessarily hit; OF Johnathan Rodriguez who draws tons of walks and should hit for power but didn't in his debut; and RHP Jonas Wyatt who has a power arm but hurt it after his 2015 debut and has pitched only 1 inning since. Valera doesn't show on the roster but I guess this where we'll find him. Although they have two rosters to fill out with a second AZL team in action today too

Nolan Jones added his 8th homer brought his average to 276 and OPS to 837. That was his 5th multi-hit game in the past 6th,
It looks like he like Mejia has found his stroke and remains near the top of our prospect list.
Mejia-McKenzie-Bieber-Jones-Chang probably stay as the top 5 with Bradley slipping behind lots of others including Valera, Castro, Civale, Allen, Hentges, maybe Morgan and Karinchak and Benson and Gonzalez and Bracho, and Holmes and J.Rodriguez

Gotta love the first weekend of action from your Scrappers! Might be a really fun team to watch this year.
McKenzie had a decent outing yesterday. 2 earned on 5 hits thru 5 IP. 5 K. ... Bradley another 0-4 with 2 K.
Yandy 1-3 with walk. Mejia 2-4 with a double.
Longo 2 more hits last night, one a double. Still can't break Civ's top 10 ahead of guys who hit 200. We will win him over one day.
... Persinger has fallen back to earth after a great start.
Francisco Perez with a disappointing start for Lake County.
I still can't get used to the DSL never playing on Sunday's. Harkens me back to my childhood. My father would never work on the farm on Sunday's, and my parents would never let me work on farm or mow grass or anything on Sunday, for fear of looking bad in front of all the southern babtists in the neighborhood.

Longo is getting close!! Buy Calica has probably edged ahead of him; higher average and more power at a higher level.
When I was a kid we went down to Cain Park on a Sunday morning for our regular pickup game and were turned away: Sunday blue laws banned ball games.

Jones No. 17 on the Hot Sheet:
17. Nolan Jones, 3B, Indians
Team: Low Class A Lake County (Midwest)
Age: 20
Why He’s Here: .500/.538/.833 (12-for-24), 3 R, 2 2B, 2 HR, 3 RBIs, 2 BB, 6 SO.T
The Scoop: Patience has been required with Jones. The Indians waited until Jones had checked off stints in the Arizona League and the New York-Penn League before sending him to the Midwest League this year. Jones has always been known for a solid approach and a good swing and it’s starting to pay off on the stat line. Jones is hitting .365/.476/.558 this month. He had an awful April (.182/.321/.364) and an only OK May (.260/.372/.417) so the arrow is pointing in the right direction. (JJ)

These are all interesting guys:
Palacios 1-1 R HR 2RBI 2BB 2nd baseman just signed from this year's draft
Gonzalez 3-4 R 2B RBI SS Marcos Gonzalez ranked in our Top 30 prospects
J.J. Rodriguez 2-4 R RBI BB Johnathan R 3rd round pick last year has a great eye and is big enough to be a power hitter in RF
Yannuzzi 4.2(IP) 2H 2R 0ER 2BB 7SO I vote for him as best name in the organization: Yefferson Yannuzzi. And he pitched well in the DR too
Scott 1(IP) 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 3SO another recent signing. I assume some of these high school kids will be stretched out as starting pitchers

Or am I confusing my Gonzalezes? Which one on the Scrappers and which in the desert?
OK: the G man in Mahoning Valley is catcher J.P.
Marcos G is the SS in Arizona.

That is correct but Marcos had an even better night than JP.

So Kaminsky returns to where he left off a season and a half ago. I imagine they'll try to get him back in the rotation, sooner or later. His inning total is up to 2, so he's got a ways to go first.

pitching today: Merritt Civale ; and Draper in Mahoning County. Hillcats and Captains on midseason break. Arizona teams need a break after one game.
