After another 2 homer night, little Jose Ramirez is now a close 2nd in slugging average in the AL to giant Aaron Judge, 568 to his 570. Up to 3rd in OPS although far behind Judge and Altuve.

'16 and '17 Indians are the first team since the '60 and '61 Yankees to have winning streaks of at least 13 in a row in back to back years.

And with a bunch of guys out. I'll count Salazar as one of them, Miller. Bruce and Zimmer lately. Kipnis.
Amazing. HAIL TITO (and Callaway!)

Ramirez is the 4th player in Tribe history to have 40+ 2B, 20+ HRs before turning 25.
The others are Trosky (1934, 1936), M. Ramirez (1996), and Sizemore (2006).

Trosky (1934, 1936), M. Ramirez (1996), and Sizemore (2006).
Some of those went on to great careers, but some fizzled out. Good luck Jose!

how about 50 doubles, 25 homers? He's only 3 short of that double today, and he's reached 25 homers already.

Trosky in 34: 45 doubles, 35 homers, at age 21!
Trosky in 36: 45 doubles, 42 homers, at age 23!
his career pretty much ended at age 28.
Manny in 96: 45 doubles, 33 homers at age 24
Grady in 06: 53 doubles, 28 homers at age 23
His last full season was two years later, although he lingered as a part-timer to age 32 suffering all those injuries.

I think I remember my Dad telling me that. Earl Averill, a Trosky teammate, lasted longer but he didn't arrive in the big leagues, I see, until he was 27 and had his best season when he was 34.

Trevor Bauer doesn't hold back as he recounts how he reminded Avisail Garcia on the rules of baseball:

Almonte in CF tonight in lineup.
I have a feeling Naquin is in doghouse.
Bruce is back in RF and batting 5th. Chiz playing left and batting 2nd. Yandy starting at 3rd again batting 7th behind Santana again.
I actually like this lineup. Just wish Naquin were playing CF batting 8th instead of Abe.

Jay Bruce a late scratch with "continued neck stiffness."
Naquin will play CF, Almonte moves to LF, Chisenhall to RF.

Something has been driving me crazy since last night. I hesitate to mention it cause the strategy worked and we won. But Tomlin and Salazar was just added to roster. Along with Kluber, Carrasco, Bauer, Clevinger and Merritt, and Morimando, we have 8 starting pitchers on the roster.
So why, last night when Salazar had to be removed in the 1st inning, did Tito not put one of the extra starting pitchers in for a long relief role instead of burning up the entire bullpen?
Andre Knott just reported that we have 3 relievers who are not available tonight now, including Shaw and Smith. Allen had pitched 3 out of 4 nights as of last night, and while he didn't pitch in the game he still ended up having to get up and warm up 2 or 3 different times. I would even hate to have to use him tonight.
Just seems like sticking Clevinger or Merritt in there at that time and trying to get 5 good innings out of them could have gone a long way to saving our pen for tonight. And if you aren't going to use them in a long relief role at this point when will they be used. Seems like only action they may see now. Just didn't make any sense to me. But we won....

And thankfully Carrasco is giving us a gem tonight so it ended up not being an issue.
Had Carrasco been knocked out early tonight though ....
