Trump 'in Oval Office foul-mouthed outburst about migrants'

US President Donald Trump has reportedly lashed out at immigrants in a foul-mouthed Oval Office outburst. "Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?" Mr Trump told lawmakers on Thursday, according to the Washington Post. The remark was reportedly in reference to people from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries. The White House did not deny the comment, which has been confirmed by other US media. "Certain Washington politicians choose to fight for foreign countries, but President Trump will always fight for the American people," a statement from White House spokesman Raj Shah said.

At some point, any reasonable person must stop justifying Trump based on liking some of his policies . . .

https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ri ... 0ac334808b

Trump does not represent some kind of reasonable variance from acceptable views of someone leading this country. He is feeding division and conflict between Americans and between America and the rest of the world.

That is the essence of who Trump is. There is no genuine doubt about it and that it improperly affects his decision making.

Trump's 'shithole' remarks spur international anger

International organisations including the UN and African Union, politicians and other Africans and Caribbeans are outraged over US President Donald Trump's latest racist remarks.

The president criticised immigration to his country from El Salvador, Haiti and the African continent, by calling the group "shithole countries", according to the US media.

"Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?" Trump asked at a meeting with congress members at the White House, reports said on Thursday, citing people with knowledge on the conversation..................

Rene Civil, an activist in Haiti, added: "We [Haitians] demand that Donald Trump apologise [to] the entire African continent, as well as before Haiti, a country whose blood has been used by ancestors who have used their minds and bodies to liberate the United States itself from slavery".

South Africa's ruling ANC party said Trump's comments were "extremely offensive", with a spokeswoman saying the party would never deign to make such derogatory remarks.

Morocco-based Africa analyst Adama Gaye told Al Jazeera: "Trump has shown a continuous display of racism towards Africa [and people from poor nations]."

Abdulsalam Kayode, a resident of the Nigeria's capital Lagos, told Al Jazeera that the US president's comments are "not unexpected from somebody of this nature [because] we already know this kind of person".

Republican politician Mia Love, who is of Haitian descent, said: "The president's comments are unkind, divisive, elitist and fly in the face of our nation's values."

UN describes Trump's comments on some immigrants as "shameful" and "racist"

Source: Xinhua| 2018-01-12 20:26:32|Editor: Yurou

GENEVA, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- The office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR) on Friday described as "shocking," "shameful" and "racist" comments by U.S. President Donald Trump on immigrants from countries like Haiti and Africa.

"These are shocking and shameful," UNHCHR spokesperson Rupert Colville said. "Sorry but there is no other word that one can use but 'racist'. You cannot dismiss entire countries and continents as 'shitholes' whose entire populations are not white, are therefore not welcome."

There is where liberals just don't get it. Trump says something demeaning about women or another country and liberal heads explode. He's sexist. He's a racist. He's homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, all other ics, and just plain icky. And the American people voted for him any way.

Why?

We were just that starved for leadership, not leading from behind.

We saw our jobs siphoning overseas and saw a democratic party with exactly zero ideas of how to get them back.

We saw an administration that treated people from other countries better than he treated his own veterans.

You see, we were not voting for a husband. We were not voting for a pastor. We were voting for an American CEO to get us back on track.

Michigan had not voted for a republican president since 1984, yet they went for Trump. In short order there has been numerous announcements of plants coming back to Michigan. Thousands of jobs. You think those workers give a damn what Trump talks like when he thinks it's private? You think they give a damn he talks to the boys about his exploits with women. Or that he calls a shithole country a shithole country? No, they just care that they are working again, putting food on the table and paying the mortgage.

Democrats have zero ideas. All they have are identity politics.

I'll keep supporting the leaders with actual ideas of how to make this country great again. Leaders who are getting great results. Democrats can just keep up the resistance. Acting all outraged at everything Trump does. That has gone great for them the last year. Well, great for me any way. So yeah, keep going with that game plan.

At some point you guys might want to tell Nancy Pelosi to shut up and start sticking some people with some actual ideas in front of the camera.

Conservative pundits brush aside Trump 'shithole countries' remark

Conservative commentators on Thursday downplayed the significance of President Donald Trump’s derogatory remarks questioning why the U.S. is “having all these people from shithole countries come here.”

But conservative pundits rushed to provide cover for the president, casting the explosive comment as a minor occurrence.

“This doesn’t move the needle at all,” Fox News co-host Jesse Watters said on “The Five.” “This is who Trump is. He doesn’t care. He shoots from the hip. And if he offends some people, fine. There’s so many more offensive things that are happening in this world.”

“Go move to Haiti. Or Liberia. Oh, you won’t? Why is that?” tweeted Mike Cernovich, a conservative blogger and prominent member of the so-called alt-right movement.

Ann Coulter, author of the book “In Trump We Trust,” said the president’s comments showed that “he’s trying to win me back.”

“I condemn this unforgivable statement and this demeaning of the office of the Presidency,” said Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland. “I will always fight for the vulnerable among us and against bigotry in all its forms.”

Donald Trump must apologise for comments - African Union

he organisation representing African countries has demanded that US President Donald Trump apologise after he reportedly called nations on the continent "shitholes".

The group's mission in Washington DC expressed its "shock, dismay and outrage" and said the Trump administration misunderstood Africans.

The US leader made the alleged remark in a Thursday meeting on immigration.

But Mr Trump has denied using the language reported.

He has been backed by two Republicans who were at the White House meeting, but Democratic Senator Dick Durbin said Mr Trump called African countries "shitholes" several times and used "racist" language.

Strongest holiday sales since Great Recession, up 5.5%, topping industry's forecast

Holiday sales during November and December jumped 5.5 percent compared with last year, according to the NRF.

Total sales rang in at $691.9 billion.

The strongest performers were retailers who sold building materials, furniture and electronics.

Holiday sales jumped 5.5 percent compared with last year, marking the largest jump seen since the end of the Great Recession, the National Retail Federation said Friday.

Total sales for November and December were $691.9 billion, exceeding the industry trade group's forecast of between $678.75 billion and $682 billion, which would have been an increase of between 3.6 and 4 percent.

"We knew going in that retailers were going to have a good holiday season but the results are even better than anything we could have hoped for," NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay said.

US ambassador to Panama says he cannot serve Trump

The US ambassador to Panama has quit because he says he is no longer able to serve under President Donald Trump.

John Feeley, a former Marine Corps helicopter pilot, said he was "honour-bound" to resign.

The US Department of State, which oversees American diplomats, learned of his resignation in late December.

It was not a direct response to Mr Trump's alleged use of the term "shithole" to describe Haiti and African countries.

"As a junior foreign service officer, I signed an oath to serve faithfully the president and his administration in an apolitical fashion, even when I might not agree with certain policies," Mr Feeley said in his resignation letter.

"My instructors made clear that if I believed I could not do that, I would be honor bound to resign. That time has come."

I guess it's all about money, Hillbilly.

Voters, in general, have little or no idea what or who they're voting for or against.

Limbaugh calls them "low information voters"

Millions of "no information voters" voted for Trump.

Millions of Germans voted for Adolph Hitler.

Hope Trump doesn't follow his hero down the road of ignominy.

Wake up, America..... you voted for a shithead who will make our country a shithole.
