I wish they could send him out for a good long rehab until he finally (finally) gets into a groove.

Francona: Miller on target for rehab outing with AAA Columbus on Wed. Will work a clean inning. All goes well, activated Fri in KC.
Francona: Chisenhall will play RF tonight at AAA. Will also get games in LF and CF before rejoining CLE. LF best fit until Brantley returns.
Francona added that there is still no clarity on Brantley's timetable. Still in boot and "still in healing stages."
Zimmer 0-for-29 in August. Francona: " It was probably unrealistic to think that he wouldn’t go through [some struggles]."

Chisenhall has played LF for precisely 1 pitch: In 2011, in a fitting sendoff, when Jim Thome manned 3B for one pitch in his final home game

Tuesday night stats from BA:
CLE AA Allen, Greg CF 5 2 2 0 .255 SB (18) [only been caught once]
CLE AA Bradley, Bobby 1B 5 0 2 0 .240
CLE AA Chang, Yu-Cheng SS 5 1 1 1 .218 HR (22) [doesn't do much else but he hits plenty of homers]
CLE AA Krieger, Tyler 2B 4 1 1 0 .222 BB (36)
CLE AA Mejia, Francisco C 6 0 2 2 .308 2B (19)
CLE AAA Diaz, Yandy 3B 4 0 0 0 .344 [a rare hitless day]
CLE AAA Gonzalez, Erik 2B 2 0 1 1 .273 BB (7)
CLE AAA Rodriguez, Nellie 1B 1 0 0 0 .170
CLE HiA Castro, Willi SS 4 0 2 0 .293
CLE LoA Ice, Logan C 4 0 1 0 .223
CLE MAJ Zimmer, Bradley CF 3 0 0 0 .246 BB (25), SB (14) [not totally imperfect]
CLE R Fermin, Jose SS 5 2 1 0 .227 2B (6)
CLE R Holmes, Quentin CF 4 1 2 1 .198 2B (4), BB (4)
CLE AA Bieber, Shane 5 7 1 1 0 3 2.79 [just a routine walkless game for Biever]
CLE LoA Aiken, Brady 5.2 7 2 2 3 5 4.74 [actually not bad considering he allowed both runs and walked 2 in the first 2 1/3 innings;
Aiken's 88 walks lead Low A ball by about 30. The anti-Bieber.

"CLE AAA Diaz, Yandy 3B 4 0 0 0 .344 [a rare hitless day]"
The last time Yandy had a day where he did not have a hit or a walk was July 21st. He's only had 8 games the entire season where he hasn't had a hit or a walk. He is batting .344 and has a .454 OBP now on the year.

To me, the only reason he isn't up is because they want regular at bats for him. With his athleticism he could play all over the field.
No matter - he's be up in September.

Cleveland Indians @Indians
Our pitchers have struck out 10 or more batters in 12 straight games.
In the @baseball_ref Play Index era, no other team has done that.
We lead the AL in starter and overall ERA, and lead baseball in 'pen ERA.
As late as June 10, our starters were last in the AL in ERA.

As we know, more and more batters are SwinginfortheFences (reference to former poster here) and don't care if they K.

Since we have a late start time this evening (and maybe problems with weather too) I thought I'd watch first few innings of Columbus. Yandy just got a hit. Announcer said, "shocker, line drive base hit to RF for Diaz"
He said that Diaz went opposite way more than any player he's ever seen. Said that even Ichiro pulled the baseball at a much higher rate than Diaz. And that's he's surprised that more teams don't use the opposite shift against him like Lousiville did late in a game earlier this season in a critical spot in game. And that Yandy beat the shift by lining the ball over their heads into RF.
Yandy has some pop going that way getting an occasional homer to RF but mostly he's just a high BA and OBP guy, but those type guys have a place on your team.
By the way, next batter was Naquin, and he hit a line drive up the middle for an RBI single, knocking in our ole pest Michael Martinez. As of last week Martinez was hitting barely over mendoza line, like 205 or so. Well he has been on a huge hot streak lately with a bunch of multiple hit games. He's now up to like 250.
So look for him to be brought up any day now once Tito catches wind of it.

It's started raining in Minnesota and tarp is on the field. Calling for rain all night too so may not get game in. Hate that since we are on a roll right now. But missing a game until Miller gets back ain't bad either.
So keeping with the Clippers ...
Base hit up the middle for Yandy second time up. He's in good position to lead the International League in hitting this year. And he currently has the highest OBP since any IL player since 1983.

Indians game officially postponed. Day night double header tomorrow. First game is still starting at 1:05. Second game 7:05.
Meanwhile in Columbus ... Andrew Miller just finished his rehab inning. Struck out first two then third batter popped out to 2nd base.
I did see him grab his right foot from behind and pull up on it, as if he were trying to stretch out his right thigh or that right knee. Odd. Hope he isn't still feeling some discomfort.
Yandy and Naquin both 2-3, Naquin with double.

Ryan Merritt called up to start second game today. 26th man on roster for double header day. Nobody had to be sent down.
