Initial rumors is we have traded Ryder Ryan for Bruce.
Ryan is a reliever in A ball. He had a great 1st half and made league all star team, but he has been creamed of late. We didn't give up much, Mets obviously just wanted rid of the salary. He is owed roughly 5 mill rest of year and Indians are taking all of it.

Bruce had roughly $5M owed still this season and #Indians are taking on all of it.

Jay Bruce cleared revocable waivers over the weekend, meaning the Mets still can move the slugging outfielder via trade before the Aug. 31 cutoff for players to be eligible for postseason play.
But like several lineup regulars, Bruce has been slumping, going 0-for-3 in Wednesday’s 5-1 loss to Texas to extend his hitless drought to 13 at-bats over four appearances since Aug. 2.
“I haven’t had very much success lately, as far as results go. But I feel good. I’m still putting some good at-bats together,” said Bruce, who also sat out two games in that span with a stiff neck. “The last week or so hasn’t been the best, but I feel good, I feel fine. I’m perfectly healthy.”
Bruce, a pending free agent who leads the Mets with 29 home runs and 75 RBI, believes the faded Mets (50-61) will continue to shift to giving more playing time to younger players the rest of the way.

Ryan was closer for Captains. Started off very well. But of late he's been terrible. You can see on that link, he's given up 14 earned runs last 10 games. Does have good stuff though, some possibilities with him.

Well, it sounds like we didn't give up all that much for Bruce. And TFIR will be happy, although you prefer Naquin!

Well, I shouldn't fault the Indians for acquiring an expensive veteran and going for it. We don't get many windows here for a World Series run, so should appreciate when the Indians go all in and go for it when a window is open. Hopefully Brantley isn't out long and Bruce should have no problem being an upgrade over Almonte and Guyer in RF.
They should absolutely bring Naquin up right now in place of Urshela to play LF though, while Brantley out. Or give Yandy another crack. Almonte and Guyer are doing nothing for us this year.
But screw it, I won't complain any more than I have.

Jay Bruce has an .847 OPS which is a career high for him. Still 30 years old. Should have plenty left to help us down the stretch.
You want some entertainment, R rated entertainment, go to Mets Twitter account and read their fans replies to them announcing the trade... Let's just say not happy...
This really was a steal ... Which is easy for me to say since I'm not paying the millions to him down the stretch.
Hopefully he'll give us a shot in the arm like Bip Roberts did in a late trade in '97.

"The long and short of it is I was prepared," Bruce wrote. "I knew something could happen, and happen fast. I really enjoyed my time in [New York], but I'm excited to jump right into a pennant race."

Well of course I like this move and more importantly clubhouses like moves that give them that kind of lineup presence. As the Keuchel tirade against his front office demonstrated. The clubhouse attitude is "we did our job - now the front office has to do theirs". Mission accomplished.
Obviously the price was more than right.
Slugging % of over .500 don't grow on trees, even these days, - and Bruce just happens to be a corner outfielder which we need. And lineup protection for the likes of Ramirez/Encarnacion/Santana.
Kudos to the front office and Dolan for stepping up.
As pointed out - The entire Indians outfield has hit just 37 home runs to date.

Hopefully, his presence will light a fire under the rest of offense, as well!

For two years now money is no object.
this sounds like proof that Lonnie is nowhere near rehab games
and that Brantley will miss a year or so in his rehab.
Bruce is fine addition. I worry much more about the bullpen. They are all in slumps, or on DL.

In other news...Indians have re-signed Perci Garner and DFA'd OF Daniel Robertson.
