Super relief work by two Cleveland-ready pitchers who we don’t have room for. If we’re going to make any trades, I assume the commodity that anyone wants is our young relievers (since White, Pomeranz, Kipnis and Chisenhall are undoubtedly not for sale).

I guess we have a little extra depth in middle infeilders, too, although pretty much limited to the majors and AAA. Jason Donald is ready to return to the Indians, if there were a job for him, and Kipnis is ready for his debut: hard for an offensively challenged team to continue to put off an offensively talented hitter. In AA Juan Diaz is apparently a good defensive SS but his offense is nothing much. Then you have to drop down to short season teams for other IF prospects, led by Tony Wolters in Mahoning Valley and perhaps Jose Martinez in Arizona.

And we have plenty of catchers who might be prospects but as they say you can never have too many of them. After Santana and Marson, AAA is stocked with veterans. But Chun Chen swings a good RH bat for Akron although his defense is said to be behind his offense. Roberto Perez is by contrast a defensive first catcher for Kinston. Alex Monsalve is having a good season for Lake County. Alex Lavisky is like Monsalve 20 years old, $1 million bonus and Cleveland roots means he'll get plenty of chance to prove himself, he's been hitting homers but otherwise offense has been balky. This year's No. 4 pick Jake Lowrey has debuted nicely with the Scrappers.

Meanwhile OF depth isn't deep. There's not a single OF with power in the system, unless we still count Nick Weglarz who's rehabbing very slowly and ineffectively in AA. Carrera is a CF/RF with a good arm and speed, but no power. Tim Fedroff had a breakout half-seaason in Akron on his return there this spring and then was promoted, but he has neither significant power, significant base stealing ability, doesn't walk a ton and doesn't have a strong arm. Jordan Henry is a singles-walks-and steals OF who hasn't duplicated his Class A performances in Akron. Tyler Holt has a little more power than Henry but not as much defensive ability. Levon Washington was our first high round OF pick since Drennen and Weglarz and he's not doing much to justify that selection at Lake County. I like Carlos Moncrief, former pitcher, who's also in Lake County who has good peripherals: plenty of gap and homerun power, steals bases, walks plenty, strong RF arm; but he's 22, is avg is in the 230s and he strikes out too much. Bryson Myles in Mahoning Valley has five tools, but questionable if they're major league caliber. Same place Jordan Smith is splitting time between 3rd and OF and hitting well over 300. Which then leaves us with Luigi Rodriguez 18 year old in Arizona in his US debut season who can run, hit for power, hit for average, throw. Give hime 5 years and he could be ready to help the Indians.

Any chance Pomeranz gets called up in September? Is he on an innings limit?

Civ- What's your scouting report on Bryson?

Pomeranz is unlikely to bypass AAA. Frank suggests he might see work in the Columbus playoffs, as I guess White did last year.

I can look up reports on Bryson. BA has always listed him in the second half of his team's Top 30, with Milwaukee or Cleveland. I haven't read any reports on him this season since his return, but I'll give you what they said preseason.

Kinston lost the first of 2, 5-3. All the runs off TJ House in 5 2/2 innings. Abreu hit his 9th homer and walked.

2 run homers early for Juan Diaz and Beau Mills. I'd let Beau try his hand at AAA pitching. This is the best sustained hitting he's had since 2008 when he hit 293 anc cracked 21 homers and batted 90 for Kinston.

tony Wolters' 10th error and Jordan Smith's 6th help dig Scrappers into a 7-0 in the first, but grandslam by Henry Dunn makes it 7-6 in the 4th.

Beau Mills up to 3 hits for the night now. Chun Chen came in to the game with 14 walks for the season, tonight he's got three of them. Aeros up 7-3 after 6 behind TJ McFarland, not a prospect.

Clippers running out of starting pitching with Gomez and someone else coming to Cleveand and Scott Barnes hurt for the season. Justin Germano was OK for 5 innings, 2 runs. Then Espino routed for 3 in 2/3 until Chen Lee rescues him with a strikeout. Clips trail 5-3 after 6.
