he's at 3rd base; what's a reasonable range factor there? Urshela is between 2.3 and 2.5. Jose Ramirez 2.4-2.5

Hey guys - is this a good list to work off for Tribe prospects?

I'm in a dynasty league where we can own up to 15 prospects. Just put in a claim on Yandy, he isn't owned. Looking for others.

Oh, crap. I had a huge brain fart, Civ. We drafted Jones as a 2nd baseman and for some reason that's what clicked at that second... LOL. Of course you're right. But yes, his RF for 3rd base is good. (chances go into the formula and 2nd base gets more oppurtunities to touch the ball so the number is larger there)

.

TFIR - I would use my list or Civ's before any of the big media ratings. But here is a link to MLB's Top 30 list. ...

http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2017?list=cle

My updated Top Prospect list following yesterdays trades and recent performance ...

1- Francisco Media
2- Triston McKenzie
3-Yandy Diaz
4- Bobby Bradley
5- Greg Allen
6- Shane Bieber
7- Willi Castro
8- Aaron Civale
9- Mitch Longo
10- Tyler Freeman

Yu Cheng Chang, Shawn Morimando, Gabe Collins, Ernie Clement, Julian Merryweather, Oscar Gonzalez, Jodd Carter would be among next group just outside 10.

Clippers beat Indy tonight 3-2 on a great outing by Merritt. 6 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K. ... Yandy 2-3 with a walk. ... Naquin 0-3 with a walk.

Ducks beat Yard Goats 5-2. ... Allen 2-3 with double and SB. ... Kipnis 0-4. ... Mejia 2-3 with double and walk. ... Bradley 1-4 with walk.

Hillcats beats Nationals 9-2. Another good outing by Civale. 7 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K. ... Ben Krauth with his best outing since promotion. 2 innings no base runners allowed and 4 K. ... Castro 2-4 with 2 SB. ... Collins 1-3 with a double and a walk. ... Loopstok had himself a day. 4-4 with 2 doubles, a triple, a homer, and 6 RBI. Wow.

Captains beat Whitecaps 5-2. ... Brady 4 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K. I think he is officially back from injury. ... Longo 0-4. ... Chu 0-3. ... Tinsley 1-4.

Scrappers lost to MuckDogs 4-2. Plesac was smacked around for a change. 1.2 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K. ... Oscar 1-4. ... Cantu 1-4. ... Clement 1-3.

AZL Indians off tonight.

DSL Tribe off tonight.

DSL Indians/Brewers lost to Rays 9-2. ... Nothing to highlight from Tribe guys.

I went back to see if I did a Top 10 list myself but couldn't locate one so I'll try it now. Basically I think there are two Grade A prospects; one Grade B or B+ and a lot of long shots. But here's an attempt:

1. McKenzie
2. Mejia
3. Bradley
4. Chang
5. Castro
6. Bieber
7. Diaz
8. Allen
9. Civale
10. Merryweather

Others who come close: Merritt, Morimando, Ice, Collins, Hillman. Maybe Capel.
Young guys in short season or rookie leagues with unproven promise: position players: Gonzalez, Jones, Benson, Cantu, Holmes, Freeman. Pitchers: Plesac, Perez, Hentges, Karinchak.

It's funny, if Loopstok had held up at first on one of his hits he'd be getting written up on milb and elsewhere for hitting a cycle. Instead he had 4 extra base hits and gets less attention; the opposition screwed him of his final chance with an intentional walk in the 9th trailing by 7 runs. I think that's pretty squirrely.

Morgan: 15 innings, 6 hits, 1 run, 28 strikeouts. But a caveat I see from draft day: report says he has a great changeup and should dominate in the low minors but whether he gets farther will depend on how he develops his fast ball and his durability by the team he reaches AA.. He's a miniature RH 5-10 190. I guess 190 isn't miniature.

Thanks guys - in the process of adding many of those.

I was surprised Yandy wasn't owned - seeing as he's at the top level.

Be careful: my picks to click usually flop, although I guess that's mostly the outside shots, where I go for 5 tool OFs who fall on their faces.

Speaking of such, the Orioles playing their cards very carefully have waited until last week to assign Santander to the minors on an "injury rehab" stay. Forget what the maximum time is for that but since they're out of contention they can bring him up in August, add him to the roster, farm out someone for a couple weeks to make room and recall whoever Sept 1. I'll check on the minimum number of days a player has to stay on roster to meet the Rule 5 requirement. I assume they've got it all worked out.

Re: Minor Matters

Here's the rule: Player must stay on active roster for "At least 90 days of that first season must be maintained at "active status" (not on any disabled list). If a player cannot be active for 90 days in that first year due to a legitimate extended injury, whatever remains of the 90 day obligation MUST be met from the beginning of the following year, his second season with the drafting club."

That makes no distinction between pre and post Sept 1 so maybe my recollection is [again] wrong.
Question: does "active status" include minor league rehab stay? I would assume not, but can't find that in the sites I looked.
So Santander is at most using about 70 of his 90 days this year; and perhaps a couple dozen less. O's will have to retain him for a couple weeks or a little longer next spring too. I'd still be happy to get him back. Other than his injuries, which have been frequent, he's a pretty good prospect, at least on the offensive side of things since he's now confined to LF apparently.

TFIR ... I guarantee you that you made an absolute steal in Yandy. As Civ can tell you, he's a fave of mine. He is going to be a professional hitter type that I know you respect. He's patient, draws walks, high OBP guy. Hits for average. Not a ton of power. Think Brantley type hitter. Which is odd considering he has biceps the size of cantaloupes... LOL

See if you can nab Greg Allen too. His numbers aren't eye popping this year cause he missed quite a bit of time with an injury. But he's going to be an every day lead off hitter in the majors, IMO. 280 type switch hitter, good OBP, steals bases, gap power. He could be a steal for you too cause his numbers are nothing this year. But last year between High A and AA he hit .295 with a .416 OBP. 23 db, 7 tp, 7 HR, and 45 SB's.

Mejia, Yandy and Allen are my three favorite hitting prospects. Willi Castro is a prospect too, IMO. Need to see him at AA before I get too excited though.

Cool thanks - you won't be surprised Mejia and Allen are already owned.

And I did claim Castro too - and Erik Gonzalez just in case.

I think it's a good bet Gonzalez and Castro will be every day players, how good I don't know yet of course. But only thing hurting their value for you right now is a guy named Lindor... LOL

Gonzalez would be starting SS on a lot of teams right now. Really surprised he wasn't traded.
