LVBP: Magallanes beat the Eagles and continues to fight
With a wide score of 17 to 4
The Magallanes Navigators took a breath of fresh air by beating the Zulia Eagles 17 to 4 at home to get closer to second place in the Round Robin after losing the first four games.
The offense deployed up to 19 hits against an Águilas pitching that could not find the formula to stop the Magallanes bats.
The Eagles started the attack in the first inning, with the bases loaded and no outs, but they were only able to score one run thanks to a sacrifice fly by Rougned Odor .
Magallanes responded early with a back to back home runs by Luis Suisbel and Yangervis Solarte to turn the scoreboard 3 to 1 at the close of the first.
Zulia scored in the second with an RBI single by Freddy Galvis , who reached 100 hits in the postseason with the Eagles, joining José Pirela as the only Raptors with 100 hits.
In the bottom of the second, Alberth Martínez hit a solo home run to make it 4-2.
In the third, Alberth Martínez himself started the rally with an RBI single, then Diego Rincones brought in the sixth with a sacrifice fly, and Carlos Rodríguez with a single produced the seventh.
In the fourth, Magallanes added one more with a hit by Gabriel Arias. In the sixth, a three-run homer by Renato Núñez , a grounder by Diego Rincones and a double by Carlos Rodríguez added six more to the Magallaneous cause that took a 14 to 2 Lead
Andrés Chaparro scored with a two-run double in the eighth inning. In the bottom of that inning, Edgardo Fermín homered and José Cordoba added the 17th run with a sacrifice fly.
The victory went to Junior Guerra (1-2) and the defeat to Wilfredo Boscán (0-1)..
