This was a team stitched together with tape that had no business being where they were. Dolan needs to step up an get an outfield. I do think that Francona did not have the best couple of days. Kluber should never have been allowed to start the 5th.

Kluber should never have been allowed to start the 5th. I would have gone with Salazar in the fourth but who am I. It seems like they didnt trust him. Team did rekindle my interest in the franchise. Now do the right thing and change the nickname.

What you saw last night was Baseball.
Wear your Wahoo hat proudly.
The 2016 Cleveland Indians were proof that sometimes the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Couldn't have asked for a more entertaining product.

Well me personally, I would have went with a 4 man rotation and I would not have started Bauer. And this isn't Monday morning QB'ing, I said it earlier. Just concerned about Kluber's effectiveness with 3 starts in 7 games, and did not feel like Bauer was a good match up with the Cubs. I would have started Salazar two games in place of Bauer. And started Merritt in game 4. Feel like he matched up with them well, as he did Toronto.
And now using hindsight, Kluber was a shell of himself last night, although he shocked me with how great he was in game 4. And Bauer lost both his starts.
He was a little slow with the hook last night too, yeah, I would agree with that.
But no way am I gonna bitch about Tito. He had a bad week in what was other wise a stellar year. But not like he had a ton to work with. Can you really bash him for not want to trust Merritt in a game? Can you bash him for not trusting Salazar was ready? I would have done a couple things different but whose to say it wouldn't have been worse. Screw it. The guys played their guts out and Tito did what he thought was best. Usually that is plenty good enough.
Defense really let us down last couple days. Didn't expect that.
Just another reason I'm showing Napoli the door, BTW.

And another by the way .... You kind of got a look at why managers want veterans and don't trust rookies during this series. Naquin looked terrible for the most part. When chips were down Davis and Coco was money. I really like Naquin, but just sayin.
I would have taken a rookie over Napoli though. LOL
Lindor is just special.
Was listening to MLB radio the other day and Todd Hollandsworth talked about that. How his heart raced when he was in big games early in his career. How he literally begging John Smoltz in his mind to throw him a fastball so he could hurry up and get his at bat over with. But how everything slowed down for him later on. Was good stuff.

One thing that struck me was the sheer physical size of the Cubs, all big dudes! How I want to have a 6'6" first baseman who can hit! Perhaps that can be Yandy.
I do not think we can afford both Napoli and Santana. Carlos is about 7 yrs younger, better OBP .366 vs .335; better OPS .866 vs .800,; and strikeouts, 99 vs 194. If Napoli would sign for the same contract as this year then yes, but not for what he will surely get in the open market.
I do not think Chiz will be back, nor will Davis or Crisp. I think we will trade a pitcher as well. We are well stocked and cheap at pitcher, and I think Clevenger and Merritt will both get good looks in the spring.
It will be interesting to see who emerges as the starting catcher.
Brantley at 2015 form will be a huge plus.
I think we get younger next year.

Basically what we are missing is a Manny type hitter. Does anyone in this lineup scare the opposition? Naquin wasnt scared he just cant hit a fastball. That kinda limits his utility.

I'd think they'd keep Carlos.
I do agree that the C position will be interesting. Who's the incumbent? Gomes couldn't hit a bit when he was healthy and although he is a good defender Perez seems to handle that part of the game better.

Speaking of which, only two teams have ever lost a World Series game 7 in extra innings, and we are both
Are you are about that? I think I saw last night that this was the 4th time game 7 went beyond the 9th. Someone must have lost each of those series.

Civ, I heard that from Tony Rizzo this morning on radio but now that I think about it I'm sure you are right because I know the 1991 world series game 7 went into extra innings. The famous 1-0 game of Twins & Braves.
Can't remember the other one though. Must have been before my time.
