Watching Bartolololo pitch for the Mets today. Hard to believe, but he came up with us in 1997, 20 years ago. Of course, he was famous for being part of Shapiro's signature trade with the Expos a few years later.

2 winningest active major league pitchers, head and shoulders ahead of the field, are Colon and Sabathia.

2 points I guess those 2 guys werent gritty enough for us nor did they play the game the right way

Also seems to suggest that you need a big rear end to be good at pitching for a long time.

Well, flip a coin anyways on those 2.

Be happy to have Colon but Sabathia is a major albatross to the NY Yankees.

Catchers not quite the dead zone they've been all season.

August and early Sept totals for PereZ and GimineZ

101-13-21-13 7 doubles, 4 homers 12 walks, 28 strikeouts 209/292/396

Just a reminder: Gomes before we went down, for the first half of July was at 054/079./081.
Maybe his couple weeks DHing will give him a chance to concentrate on his offense so he can back to his 2014 form, or at last 2015, when he returns for the stretch run.

To update a post from last week:

Indians will finish with 92 wins if they play .500 ball from here on out (currently .581)

To reach 92 games, the Tigers need to go 17-8, or a .680 pace, (currently .547)

IF they play .500 ball.

They may never win again.

Both teams control their own destinies!!! 4 games in Detroit and 3 games in Cleveland.

Law of averages suggests we won't smash the Tigers the way we have so far [11 wins in 12 games] but 4-3 margin would nearly seal the deal.

Unfortunately, the Tribe doesn't have a good track record when it controls its own destiny. Nor does it have a good track record when it does not control it's own destiny.

This has been a very up and down season. Every time they pull a Whodini like they did against shitty teams like Miami, it creates a bigger let down when they don't do it against better teams like Huston, and makes me worry about every other possible playoff team. Especially the Tigers.

I'm glad they are already selling Sam Adams Octoberfest.

5 1/2 game lead with 24 to play.

If we go 12-12, they have to go 17-6 to tie us. Key for Detroit would be overwhelm Indians in head-to-head play.

We've held this lead at similar level for month plus now. I see no reason to panic. Team is too balanced to fall apart now.

I'm really hoping there is no drama by the time I go to the games next Friday & Saturday to the Tigers games. But if there is I guess that is good too. But I prefer to see us lock things up.

Trying to remember the season when the tribe blew it in the last week!
