He does have a 400+ BA with RISP so that's something.

Sounds like Almonte for Crisp.

Think the players involved have to be at the same level. You can't trade a guy on the 25 for minor league prospects.

Unknown team claims Puig off waivers

DENVER --

Yasiel Puig was claimed off revocable waivers by an unidentified club, according to a report from MLB Network Insider Jon Heyman on Tuesday, but the outcome for the Dodgers outfielder remains unclear.

Waiver claim order is based on the reverse order of standings in the player's league. Therefore, every NL team, beginning with the Atlanta Braves, who have the worst record in MLB, would have a chance to claim Puig before any American League team.

Puig among last-minute trade candidates

Here are five of the biggest names to watch before the clock strikes midnight on Wednesday.

Yasiel Puig, Dodgers: The talented outfielder who has been tearing up Triple-A was reportedly claimed by an unknown team on Tuesday.The Dodgers can revoke the waivers and keep Puig, they can let him and his contract go to the claiming club with nothing in return or they can attempt to work out a trade with the claiming club. Puig is signed through 2018 and is owed a total of $17.3 million over the final two seasons of his deal.

Ryan Braun Brewers, Brian McCann Yankees, Ervin Santana Twins, James Shields White Sox.

Maybe the Indians can pull off a Royals/Cueto move by picking up Santana.

Doubtful, owed a lot of money over the next few years......

I can see no reason not to add Yandy as well as Crisp. As I keep noting there's plenty of room on the 40 man roster. hard to imagine any reason not to remove Cowgill and replace with Diaz. Then he'll be available for the postseason if he looks good in the big leagues in September.

Coco is batting an MLB-best .424 with RISP, and hitting .345 with men on base.

UPDATE: (11:36 AM EDT, Wednesday): The deal has been announced by both clubs. The A’s will be receiving left-handed pitcher Colt Hynes. Hynes is 31. He’s pitched seven games in the big leagues and has spent ten years in the minors with a 3.62 ERA in 456 games, almost all in relief.

Crisp, 36, is owed the remainder of his $11 million salary for the 2016 season and has a $13 million option for the 2017 season that vests if he reaches 550 plate appearances or plays in 130 games this season. He has already played in 102 games and logged 434 PA, batting .234/.299/.399 with 11 home runs and 47 RBI.

Seems unlikely that he will reach either of those benchmarks.

That's odd, I read on Twitter that Coco Crisp was traded to the Tribe for 2 players: Franken Berry and Count Chocula.

Seriously,we have 31 games left, if he plays in 28, and get enough At bats are we on the hook for 17 M next year? And what about the playoffs? Do they count? It would be easier for him to make those figures. Lets ask our resident lawyer.......CIV?

I doubt he will be a regular in the starting lineup. I think Tito will use him as a PH, and spot starts to give the regulars days off. And I don't think playoffs count for those benchmarks.
