Who in the heck is Brandon Guyer?

He cannot be much good because Nathan Lukes is a CF of no particular distinction recently promoted to Carolina to replace Greg Allen who was promoted to Akron and was part of the Lucroy package. A 2015 draftee, he seems a good hitter, little power, some speed, don't know his defensive credentials.

Salinas is a pitcher way down at the bottom of the farm system. Other than knowing he exists I know nothing else of him.

This package is way less than Hillbilly and I were offering for Pearce.

For those who know as much as I do about Guyer,

He's a 30 year old on Tampa, same place as Pearce plays, I think.
Didn't make the majors until he was 28, except for some brief sojourns.
For the year overall his slash line is 241/347/406
He plays all three OF positions.
He's a RH hitter and those splits noted above are indeed correct.
So if he's going to play OF instead of Ramirez, and Ramirez plays more 3B, that still seems to leave a spot for Yandy Diaz to fill.

ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays have traded outfielder Brandon Guyer to the Indians for a pair of Minor Leaguers, outfielder Nathan Lukes and right-hander Jhonleider Salinas.

Though the trade came out of nowhere in regard to any rumors that had been circulating, it made sense given the Rays' crowded outfield situation combined with the fact that outfielder Desmond Jennings should be returning from the disabled list shortly.

[Not to mention it makes for the Indians who are heavy with good hitting LH bats in the OF]

Guyer, 30, is a career .255/.341/.396 hitter over parts of five seasons, all with the Rays. This season, he has been hit by pitch a Major-League-Leading 23 times over 63 games, 55 starts.

He is a career .283/.384/.464 (113-for-399) hitter with 15 home runs vs. left-handed pitching and leads the American League with a .488 on-base percentage vs. lefties this season. He leaves the Rays as the franchise's career leader with 58 hit by pitches.

Lukes, 22, is batting .299/.369/.444 with 22 doubles, eight triples, five home runs and 33 RBI in 94 games this season between Single-A Lake County and Single-A Lynchburg. A left-handed hitter, he ranks seventh among Indians Minor Leaguers in batting average. Lukes was selected by the Indians in the seventh round of the 2015 June Draft out of Cal State Sacramento and is the program's all-time leader in hits (244).

Salinas, 20, has gone 3-2 with a 3.30 ERA and 11.4 strikeouts per nine innings in nine games (four starts) with the Rookie-level Arizona League Indians this season. He ranks among the league leaders in ERA (10th) and strikeouts (38, third). He was signed as a free agent out of Venezuela in 2015. [Sounds like a promising arm in the far distant future. But why is a 20 year old not in Lake County or Mahoning Valley?]

Over parts of two Minor League seasons, he is 5-4 with a 2.93 ERA in 23 appearances (13 starts).
