Give him his deal as long as its not more than 5years. Gomes is an average catcher and so is Perez. One backups Lucroy the other gets traded. We cant pass up this opportunity now. This is a big deal in more ways than one.

Well I had bought into dealing all of my favorite minor leaguers [I know Chang is going eventually since we have the best SS in baseball; Mejia is a tougher one to sacrifice] but they resolve this quickly so I can quickly reassess our minor league top 10. One quote above:

is a bit overstated. Yes we are dealing most of our best prospects. But yes we would still have 3 of the BA midseason Top 70 with Zimmer, Clevinger and Aiken [who is looking worse all the time]. And McKenzie who's the best pitcher and one of the youngest in NYPL. And two remaining impressive SSs [Gonzalez and Castro] and probably another pretty solid draft this year {Benson, Jones, Civale] as well as the balance of the outstanding class of 2015: Hillman, Krieger, Mathias, perhaps Lukes, Wyatt, Wakamatsu.

I hate losing Frazier and Fireiron. Heller sound unhittable where has he been all along? Sheffield had a Yankee connection. Lets see if the Yankees bring up Frazier this year. He could turn into a Mantle type.

This is weird, I find myself being happy either way. Don't care if Lucroy accepts or not.

The more I heard about Mejia the more I liked him. Hell, just last night one of the national writers I follow on Twitter said he had a scout tell him that Mejia has the best arm of any catcher he's seen in the minors this year.

Even that off field concerns stuff that started in recent days, that ended up being that the Indians were concerned about his maturity and work ethic, but that he did a complete 180 turnaround this year. Hell, he was just 19 last year, we expect him to be Tom Brady?

This could turn around and we can still end up getting Lucroy. My gut feeling is there is a good chance that happens. But if we don't this could end up being a Garth Brooks moment. Thank God for unanswered prayers. Cause Mejia could end up being special. He's still just 20. Not to mention Chang and Allen who are talented in their own right.

So I'm cool just sitting back and seeing what happens.

If nothing else I get an atta boy for mentioning a while ago we should go after Lucroy, long before rumors started.

Now if they'd just take my advice and go get Goldschmidt. He's locked up and affordable too. If we are willing to pay through the nose might as well make it for someone who is a true stud.

Jay Bruce - OF - Reds

Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Indians are looking at Jay Bruce and Steve Pearce.

The Indians thought they had upgrade their offense with a trade for Jonathan Lucroy, but Lucroy exercised his no-trade clause to nix the deal. The Tribe has been connected to Pearce before, but they appear to be newly into the Bruce sweepstakes.

I love it when these morons overplay their hands. Lucroy will love it playing for the Brewers the rest of the year.

Carlos Beltran - OF - Yankees

Carlos Beltran went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's loss to the Rays.

The Yankees have already traded relievers Aroldis Champman and Andrew Miller to the Cubs and Indians, respectively, leaving Beltran as one of the last big veteran trade chips on their roster. If he does move before Monday's deadline, he finished off his time with the Yankees in style.

Continuing what has been a surprising campaign for the veteran outfielder, Beltran mashed a two-run homer off Rays starter Blake Snell in the sixth inning. The bomb was his 22nd of the season and bumped his RBI total to 64. His current slugging percentage of .538 would be the highest he has posted in a full season since he slugged .594 with the Mets back in 2006.

And, I think it's a good bet that the Tribe talked Beltran with the Yankees while talking Andrew Miller. Could be revisited, it's such an obvious fit.

Miller owns a career ERA of 2.72 with Detroit, Florida, Boston, Baltimore and New York. Indians manager Terry Francona is expected to use him in the eighth inning along with right-hander Bryan Shaw as the bridge to closer Cody Allen.

Andrew Miller ... Andrew Miller ... remind me, what was the name of that stud pitching prospect we had a decade ago who had some finger injury & operations and sort of disappeared?

My only concern is that Tito might use Miller as a situational lefty. He is more than that,much better than Shaw for sure and proably better than Allen
