Jonathan Lucroy - C - Brewers

Two rival GMs told Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports that the Indians are now considered the favorites to land Jonathan Lucroy.

Lucroy was held out of Saturday's lineup in anticipation of a trade materializing in the next 24 hours.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick said the Mets haven't made much headway in talks for Lucroy while SB Nation's Chris Cotillo shared that the Rangers remain "far apart" in negotiations.

That leaves Cleveland as the de facto favorite. The Brewers could be eying top catching prospect Francisco Mejia, who is currently on a 40-game hitting streak for High-A Lynchburg.

Though no deal is imminent, the odds are incredibly strong that Lucroy has played his final game as a Brewer.

The Indians and Brewers have agreed to a trade involving Jonathan Lucroy, who still has to approve the deal to Cleveland.

CLEVELAND-- The Indians appear to be on the verge of filling a hole in their lineup.
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the Brewers have agreed to trade All-Star catcher Jonathan Lucroy to the Indians.
Lucroy, 30, would need to approve the deal, however, as he has a no-trade clause and could block any potential deal to the Indians.
Rosenthal is also reporting that the deal would involve four players from the Indians' organization heading to the Brewers, though the names of the individuals have yet to be revealed.
The two-time All-Star is currently signed to a contract that will pay him $4M this season with a $5.25M team option for next season.
Lucroy, who is hitting .300 with 13 home runs and 50 RBI this season, was held out of Milwaukee's lineup on Saturday night, as the team progressed on trade talks.

Lucroy gonna want some extra cash I'm sure.

A lot of people reporting Mejia, Allen, and Chang are 3 of the 4.

One person says Sheffield is he 4th.

That's a lot. But guess all star catchers don't grow on trees.

Cleveland Indians-Brewers' trade depends on approval from catcher Jonathan Lucroy

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Indians are close to completing a trade for catcher Jonathan Lucroy from Milwaukee.

Multiple sources are saying an agreement has been reached, depending on Lucroy approving the trade. The Indians are one of eight teams on his no-trade list.

If the deal goes through, the Indians are expected to send catcher Francisco Mejia, outfielder Greg Allen and shortstop Yu-Chen Chang to the Brewers for Lucroy. A fourth player could also be headed the Brewers way.

Mejia, Allen and Chang are playing at Class A Lynchburg.

The Indians current catching situation is shaky. Roberto Perez and Chris Gimenez aren't hitting. Lucroy, who was not in Milwaukee's lineup Saturday night against the Pirates, is hitting .300 (101-for-337) with 13 homers, 50 RBI and a .844 OPS. He went to his second All-Star Game this year.

Indians catcher Yan Gomes returned to Cleveland on Sunday night to be examined by team doctors Monday after suffering a separated right shoulder in Sunday's win over the Twins.

Yan Gomes, the Indians starting catcher, is out for six to eight weeks with a separated right shoulder. Perez, who missed nine weeks with a broken right thumb, is hitting .043 (1-for-23). Gimenez is hitting .200 (19-for-95) with two homers and six RBI.

Tribe catchers have the lowest OPS in AL .504.

The Brewers hold a club option on Lucroy for 2017 worth $5.25 million. Lucroy, 30, is in the fifth and final year of a $10.28 million deal.

To make the deal work, the Indians might have to offer Lucroy and extension of increase his club option year.

The Indians, as of game time Saturday night, were still negotiating with Milwaukee about catcher Jonathan Lucroy and, perhaps, left-hander Will Smith. The deadline for making trades without waivers if 4 p.m. Monday.

Mejia, who extended his hitting streak to 42 games on Saturday, is hitting .333 (25-for-76) with two homers, 12 RBI and a .824 OPS at Lynchburg. He started the season at Class A Lake County and hit .347 (83-for-239) with seven homers, 51 RBI and a .915 OPS.

Chang is hitting .272 (100-for-367) with 12 homers 69 RBI and a .837 OPS at Lynchburg.

Allen, a sixth round pick in 2014, is hitting .298 (103-for-346) with four homer and 31 RBI. He's stolen 38 bases with a .825 OPS.

Mejia and Chang are 20. Allen is 23. The Indians signed Mejia and Chang as international free agents. Mejia is a switch-hitting catcher, Chang is a shortstop with power and Allen is leadoff hitter with speed.

The Indians were reportedly trying to get Lucroy and left-hander Will Smith from the Brewers. So that means they could still be in the market for a left-handed reliever.

The trade deadline is 4 p.m. Monday.

Yup, same thing I just read. Frazier & Sheffield.

First of all, love to see the Tribe go for it like this. Pushing their chips all in during a year they have a legit shot.

Secondly, never would have been able to do this without a very good minor league system. They've done a great job drafting and developing last few years. Feels good to say that for a change.

Even though we just traded 5 good prospects we still have Zimmer, Clevinger, Bradley, Diaz, McKenzie, and a host of good prospects on horizon.
