TORU MURATA

Einar Diaz chose Murata to open the regular season of play. He chooses Murata to open the league championship series. Even though Danny Salazar and Steven Wright were the better of the three pitchers during the regular season, I guess some managers just have that certain confidence in his players. I haven't read who the second game pitcher will be but I'm guessing it will be Danny Salazar with Steven Wright pitching in the third game.

Well, Steven Wright is getting the start this evening. Middle of 4, Diablos 3 Roneros 2. Wright up to 60 pitches. The knuckler is knuckling. A one out walk, followed by a duck snort to right, and a basehit up the middle in the top of the 4th gave the Diablos the lead. Wright seems to have nice command of the knuckler. He's not missing by much. A lot of high counts. But, I guess the important thing for Wright is another pitch that could make or break his career.

The long layoff is showing. Wright has given up 7 hits in the 4 innings he's worked. Wright had the best ERA in the league during the regular season. The ERA was (0.75).

This is the first chance I've gotten to see any of the games from Panama. Actually, it's some very good baseball.
