Kluber wound up allowing 10hits in 6 innings. He is probably No. 5 starter for Columbus now, behind McAllister, Gomez, Huff, Barnes.

Pomeranz returns from spring break with 5 shutout innings. It's now warm enough in the northeast for him to move to Akron. Greenwell with a pair of hits.

Captains with a good night, won 5-3. Michael Goodnight with a good night, throws 5 shutout innings for the win, fans 8 but walked 4. Trey Haley in relief walked the only 2 hitters he faced. Big bats swung by:

Carlos Moncrief, a triple and a homer. Like Grady Sizemore he's not good at hitting singles. Moncrief has 17 singles, 14 doubles, 4 triples and 7 homers. His avg is 247. His OPS is 853.

Tony Galls with a single, his 23rd double and a homer. Avg is 358

Alex Monsalve, 2 hits, continuing a very good offensive Class A debut

Why is Stephen Wright starting for Lake County? He's old enough to be the father of some of his teammates; well not quite but 6 years older than Urshela who homered and singled, still batting only 228.

24-year-old nonprospects Jeremie Tice and Adam Abraham propel Kinston to 7-6 victory. 3 hits by each, Abraham's included a double and a homer. 2 hits each by we-thought-they-were-prospects-but-they-haven't-done-much-to-prove-it Delvi Cid (.160) and Abner Abreu (.218) Probable-non-prospect Bret Brach the starter, 5 1/3 innings, 3 runs. Probably not either Kyle Landis stretches his hitless streak to 6 games at Kinston; Preston Guilmet with Save 13.

Our only victory last night was by Lake County, aided a bit by 7 Clinton errors. Ever see a team's line score read 7 7 7? Captains win 8-7.

Good start by Kyle Blair, 6 innings 2 runs on 4 hits and a walk, 4 K. Jesus Aguillar 2 homers; Alex Lavisky one homer; Levon Washington 3 hits and an error; Moncrief hit by a pitch and leaves the game.
