fun early stats:

for Lynchburg 2 players have more walks than strikeouts:
Mike Papi 5 walks, 2 strikeouts in 18 TAB
Bobby Bradley 3 walks, 2 strikeouts in 12 TAB
and Greg Allen has 4 of each

Anthony Santander's 2 homers give him OPS of 1035

Staying with Lynchburg 10 pitchers [including mop up work by catcher Sicnarf Loopstock[ total 37 1/3 IP and 8 ER
the other 2 pitchers, Jordan Milbrath and Cole Sulser, total 2 2/3 IP and 9 ER

Starting pitchers combined totals:

19 1/3 innings 17 hits 5 walks 23 strikeouts 5 earned runs

Prospects on fire:

Frazier's 1st homer, hitting 353
Zimmer's 1st homer, plus 2 walks, and his first successful steal
Kaminsky 5 1-hit shutout innings, although 3 walks and 1 K
Y-C Chang's 1st homer [to which he adds 3 errors, 5 for the young season]
Tyler Krieger 2 hits, hitting 412, 1st steal, hbp
S-C Chiang 4 shutout walkless innings
Francisco Mejia single, triple, double, 4 rbi hitting 467

Not so hot:
Sean Brady 4 innings 11 hits, 3 walks, 8 runs, but only 5 earned

Clippers rained out once again; that's 4 postponed in 5 days of the season.

Not surprisingly Zimmer/Frazier duo made BA's prospect highlights:

Bradley Zimmer, cf/Clint Frazier, rf, Indians. Cleveland’s Nos. 1 and 2 prospects, respectively, had powerful nights Monday in Double-A Akron’s 9-1 win at Altoona (Pirates). Zimmer, who struggled in Double-A last season, clubbed two homers Monday, and Frazier hit his first homer at the classification. Both players impressed in spring and watched Tyler Naquin hit his way onto the major league roster. Zimmer and Frazier might not be far behind.

Josh Martin - S - Indians

Padres returned Rule 5 pick RHP Josh Martin to the Indians.

Martin, who was selected from the Indians in December's Rule 5 Draft, was designated for assignment after failing to crack the Padres' Opening Day roster. The 26-year-old will report to Triple-A Columbus.

6 shutout innings for 19 year Justus Sheffield in Lynchburg.

2nd homer for Nellie Rodriguez for Akron and a double and 3 rbi. Frazier's 3-run double puts him at 333; Zimmer 263, has walked and fanned in 3 trips.
Dace Kime is looked better for Akron than he usually did for Lynchburg. 4-2-0-0-1-4 so far. He had a 4.42 ERA and 1.46 for the Hillcats in 2015. His Lake County career record is 9-17 4.83 1.42 WHIP. So he has plenty to prove.

Tyler Krieger who was 4-4 yesterday for Lake County singled and walked his first 2 AB today. A polished college he's in LC since he was injured and DNP after 2015 draft. Perhaps he belongs in Lynchburg, which already has a crowed middle IF with Mark Mathias and Chiang and Ivan Castillo. When he leaves Eastlake, they'll be room to add Luke Wakamatsu to the roster. But the Captains also have 18 year old Willi Castro at SS and he's 2 for 2 today and up to 476.

Bradley. was 0-3 with 3 K and a Sac Fly for the Hillcats Mathias singled and walked twice [211 avg, but 716 OPS]

Not a successful day in the minors. Clippers lost a pair. Akron lost its first of the season. Mitch Brown with a stinkeroo for Lynchburg. Only Lake County pulls one out. Their roster is least impressive of our 4 teams but the record is 5-2 to date. SS Willi Castro stays hot with a single, his 3rd triple, and his 4th error [464 avg; 1143 ops]. F Mejia single and walk [421/1079]. Casey Shane 4 1/3-6-3-2-2-2.

For the Hillcats, homers were first for Bradley and 4-year-old Papi. Bobby also singled; Mike also walked. Paulino in a typical April slump, is at .130. Greg Allen single and 7th steal. doubleplay combo both good prospects Mathias and Chang both hitless, avg respectively 174/091. Brown 4 2/3-6-5-5-5-4 ERA 7.71

Adam Plutko bounced after one innings, 5 runs allowed; after a shutout 5 innings in his season debut. Yandy Diaz 0-5 with a steal, like all our 3rd baseman he's not hitting: 125 avg. Zimmer 1-4 but 3K. Frazier the night off. N Rod 1-4 no K.

Another starter goes 4 2/3: Ryan Merritt 4 2/3-9-4-4-2-3. I'd not be surprised if he's surpassed his ceiling. the Chis continues to smoke at the plate: 0-3, makes him 0-8 in his rehab, after his 2-26 in Arizona. He's ready to rejoin the Tribe any day now. On the other hand, Joey Butler with his 2nd homer and a walk; game two another walk: [300 avg, 1500 OPS in 14 total ab. 3rd baseman Urshela now 0-12. tommy Hunter rehab, 1 inning, 3 hits, 1 run. Brantley sits out both games.
