Its all good we have already showed that we cant compete against the Tigers-things havent changed. Who were those people that were predicting big things from this team?

Losing three in a row to the Tigers the first week of April isn't going to make or break the season. (Though we may wish we had one or two of them back come September.)

However, getting your butt kicked at home the first week of April isnt going to inspire ticket sales through June.

I sure as hell wouldn't be spending that kind of money to watch them try to fill roster holes, I wouldn't expect anyone else to, and nobody in the Indians Organization should be surprised when there are 500 people in the stands until around Memorial Day.

2013 Indians went what 3-16 or 2-17 against Detroit. And we made the one game play off. Maybe a repeat.

first weekend attendance was impressive; not the typical immediate dropoff to approximately zero. Although our 19,500 on Sunday was still the lowest in the majors. the "new look" stadium will help; it has increased the buzz around my breakfast group's table after one of the guys went up on Saturday: lousy game, good food, he reported.

We traded Eddie Taubensee for Kenny Lofton. Traded Lofton for Justice. Traded Justice for Jake Westbrook (& Day & Ledee). And dealt Westbrook for Corey Kluber

Didn't we get Marquis Grissom along with Justice for Kenny? Did he trade Grissom for someone too? Not that I recall.

Yup, we got Grissom too. He was a big disappointment throughout that regular season in '97, but caught fire in the playoffs. Big reason why we made it to the World Series. (Along with picking up Bip Roberts, who sparked the offense up top, and everyone pulling their socks up which obviously brought us much luck)

We traded Grissom to the Brewers. I know we got Ben McDonald in that deal. Oh, and Villone. Seems like someone else too.

CLEVELAND -- The Indians have selected the contract of catcher Brett Hayes from Triple-A Columbus, a needed move with Yan Gomes injured and expected to miss six weeks.

The club also signed free agent right-hander Jhoulys Chacin to a minor league deal.

Hayes began the season with the Clippers, and he didn't get a hit in five at-bats. The Indians signed him to a minor league free-agent contract in December. He was with Kansas City's organization in 2014.

Cleveland had to bring up a backup catcher after Gomes sprained a right knee ligament Saturday when he was injured while making a play at the plate. Roberto Perez is starting while Gomes is out.

To make room for Hayes, the Indians designated right-hander Shaun Marcum for assignment. He pitched for the first time in a major league game since 2013 on Sunday against Detroit.

I like taking a chance with Chacin on a cheap deal. He has pitched well at times, in Colorado.

Took a flyer on this guy too. ... Who by the way, will have his 2.5 mill salary paid by Dodgers this year. Real no risk move here...

CLEVELAND -- The Indians signed free agent right-hander Ryan Webb to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Columbus.

Webb has gone 16-18 with a 3.38 ERA in six seasons with San Diego, Miami and Baltimore. The Orioles traded him to the Los Angeles Dodgers last week, and he was released by the team Monday.

The 29-year-old has appeared in 317 career games. He pitched in at least 50 games in each of the past five seasons. Last year, he had a 3.83 ERA in 51 games for the Orioles.

Tribe doing some dumpster diving snagging Webb and Chacin. Webb is almost free with the Dodgers paying his salary and Chacin has 1.35M of Colorado money in his pocket. Guess they're hoping Marcum clears waivers so they can re-sign him to a minor league contract.

Maybe the money guys know what they're doing.

I have to assume that Marcum was told that he had a one-day big league stay and then back to Columbus, unless of course someone else picks him up. I would think he'll get another job offer.

Probably does not belong here, but does anyone else think that the Browns new red uniforms look like the 1975 Indians?
