Just heard that our own GAYLORD PERRY will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at the home opener!

As long as Raburn and Murphy are the only alternatives for DH, with their combined sprint OPS of about 800, I'd like to see the pitchers hitting their last times out so they can just hit 9th themselves; can't be much more futile than the above pair.

My wife & I are planning a long weekend in Seattle the end of May and am going to take in a couple games of that 4 game series. I've been wanting to see their field since we moved out here so I'm excited!

big shock as Indians decide to give Tito the extra arm in the pen and keep Adams for the last roster spot.

If they are truly interested in speeding up the game, pitching changes should be the starting point. Don't know what the limitations should be but making 7 pitching changes really slows things down.

Adams clinched the deal with yet another lousy outing yesterday. He throws hard. That's his calling card. But unfortunately he also throws the ball over the plate. Now that he's on the roster just have to hope he's never used.
Meanwhile Murphy and Raburn have the DH and backup OF spots to share and we can expect a lot from them.

All this optimism in the national media for no apparent reason remind me of 1987. Where is Cory Snyder when you need him? The white flag is being brought out. When do the Indians have their opener so when they are getting blown out in the third inning I can raise it up the flag pole?

Terry Pluto reports:
Tomlin having shoulder surgery, out 3-4 months. Explains why he looked so bad in the spring.

No idea what ken's last post meant after the first clause. The reason the team is forecast to have a chance to be successful starts with a returning Cy Young winner, the league's best starting pitching staff over the final couple months of last year, a no. 3 finisher for MVP and one of the best regarded managers in the game. World Series champs seems like a stretch to me, but the pitching has every reason to be top-grade both starting and relieving. The defense was awful last year and we still just missed the playoffs and we are improved by a couple grades at SS, a bit in RF, and not illogical to think a bit in CF and 2B if the incumbents continue to remain healthy. Our catcher is one of the best. We have a fair amount of power, a fair amount of speed. Lots could go wrong but only a few modest surprises necessary to make the team capable of going the distance.

Ken Rosenthal tweeted that an extension with Kluber is almost done. Should be complete before opening day.
He also says one is close with Carrasco.

@Ken_Rosenthal: Carrasco deal 2015 thri ’18, with options for ’19 and ’20. Had been signed for 2015. So, either new four-year deal or three-year extension.
