Axford??? The same Axford the Tribe couldn't dump fast enough? In demand???

ST can't be far away when all the leftover stiffs have their agents pimp them like rockstars.

Don't get me started on that dumb SOB

Stay away from Canadiens unless you're a hockey team.

Rule you can live by if you're a GM of a major sports team.

Sherzer's contract is with silly money. Can't really expect he Tribe to compete at that level of expenditure.

The Indians have been signing pitchers by numbers or by past history and not by quality. If they want to go after veteran pitchers to bolster the bullpen, I suggest Rafael Perez who is have an outstanding winter as those who do read the winter ball folder already know. He and Giovanny Soto are both doing excellent work this winter. I wouldn't be surprised to see Soto get a September call up. All of Rafael Perez's appearances this winter have been as a starter averaging 5+ innings per outing with a nice 0.84 ERA in those starts.

Raffy was a good guy, it seemed, as well as a good lefty. I'd be happy to invite him in on a AAA contract if his stuff is deemed good enough.

They did not dump him. They designated him for assignment probably to trade him.

ESPN.com news services

Cleveland Indians right-hander Danny Salazar is being investigated by the Cleveland Police Department for a sexual assault complaint, Cleveland.com is reporting.

According to the website, the incident is alleged to have taken place Jan. 23, the day before the team's two-day Tribe Fest at Progressive Field on Jan. 24-25. The website reported that no other details of the case were available at this time.

The Indians said Wednesday in a statement they are aware of the investigation.

"Since this potentially could become a legal matter, we won't have any additional comment at this time," general manager Chris Antonetti said.

Salazar, 25, was 6-8 with a 4.25 ERA in 20 starts last season, when he bounced between the Indians and Triple-A Columbus. He is expected to compete for a spot in the team's starting rotation in spring training.

He opened 2014 in Cleveland's starting rotation, going 1-4 with a 5.53 ERA in his first eight starts. Salazar soared through the system in 2013 and started Cleveland's wild-card playoff game against Tampa Bay.

Indians pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to Goodyear, Arizona, on Feb. 18.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
