If he hits like he now does, the defense can be lived with. He has always been steady.

Yankees acquired LHP Josh Outman from the Indians in exchange for a player to be named later or cash.
Outman had been at Triple-A Columbus after being removed from the Indians' 40-man roster, but he'll report to the big club with the Yankees. He has control issues (16 walks in 24 2/3 innings this season), but Outman has struck out over a batter per inning in his career as a reliever and held lefties to a .188/.257/.287 batting line.

Jose Ramirez delivered an RBI single in the third inning and added a one-out single in the ninth. The rookie shortstop now has hits in seven of his last eight games. Since being recalled in late July, Ramirez is batting .306 (30-for-98). Over his last 14 games, Ramirez is hitting .370 (20-for-54).

Jose still not getting any respect. He's on the juice!

If anyone is keeping track, Jose is playing as well in the majors as Francisco is playing in AAA ball. Let him enjoy his hour in the sun. As long as he keeps playing a steady shortstop and providing some spark out of the second hole, l'm going to enjoy the moment. With Ramirez playing as well as he is and we keep winning, we should all be pretty happy about that even if he is on the juice.

Would be happy if they made a waiver deal for an OF today. Dickerson has reverted to his norm, batting .147 in August with a stellar OPS of 436.

Ryan Raburn returns from the DL but all he's done when healthy is hit 191 with his own exciting OPS of 517.

Murphy is not ready to return.

Holt is ok. Aviles can't play everywhere. Moncrief is available for recall and can play a good RF.

6. Victor Martinez. Martinez has been on fire since our last set of power rankings, hitting .344/.433/.526 in 180 plate appearances. He’s been among the best hitters in all of baseball this year, and no other free agent comes close to his 2014 production. Martinez is mostly a designated hitter at this point, and he’ll turn 36 in December. He’ll probably find a team willing to take their chances on a three-year deal, possibly in excess of the $45MM Carlos Beltran received.
