How does someone get 2101 plate appearances in 51 games???

Sounds strange.

I think we can safely assume those are his minor league totals.

This may be as useless a pickup as what we got for our last SS: Jhonny Peralta for Giovanny Soto, LH reliever, who's still in AA. Although I will need to look the guy up in my prospects books. Maybe he's the next Mike Aviles? I was hoping for a pitcher.

Unless this last trade results in a more complicated resolution with other teams, the front office gets a failure on this one. JMHO.

DET acquires Price in three-team blockbuster

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Tigers have acquired David Price from the Rays.
It's part of a three-team swap that also involves the Mariners, as suggested earlier by Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. The Rays will get shortstop prospect Nick Franklin from Seattle and left-handed starter Drew Smyly from Detroit. The Mariners will get center fielder Austin Jackson. And the Tigers wind up with another ace to add to a rotation that already includes Max Scherzer, Anibal Sanchez, and Justin Verlander.

I understood the Masterson trade. And I knew Cabrera would be next on the block. But why did we take a journeyman SS in return? That has me baffled. Does anyone here understand the justification, in particular why we took back another infielder?

I figured we go for a pitching prospect or bullpen guy in return for ACab?

Well - that Price trade seals the deal. No catching the Tigers this year.

There's a reason why the Tigers are the class of this division and it starts at the top.

A city that goes into bankruptcy but still can afford a top of the line baseball team.
