BA must be reading these posts; they put Bradley and NRod at No. 2 and No. 3 of the weekly Hot Prospect List

2. Bobby Bradley, 1b, Indians

Team: low Class A Lake County (Midwest)
Age: 19
Why He’s Here: .391/.440/.913 (9-for-23), 6 R, 1 2B, 1 3B, 3 HR, 6 RBIs, 1 BB, 8 SO

The Scoop: A 2014 third-round pick, Bradley is the owner of both a sweet lefthanded swing and a discerning eye at the dish. Case in point: His walk rate this year is 14 percent, which would put him in the league’s upper crust if he had enough plate appearances to qualify. The power is showing up, too. Bradley went deep three times this week, pushing his season total to nine and tying him with Beloit’s Sandber Pimentel and Lansing’s Richard Urena for the fourth-most in the Midwest League. The kicker? He’s accomplished the feat in just 35 games.

3. Nellie Rodriguez, 1b, Indians

Team: high Class A Lynchburg (Carolina)
Age: 20
Why He’s Here: .400/.438/.867 (12-for-30), 7 R, 3 2B, 1 3B, 3 HR, 11 RBIs, 1 BB, 9 SO

The Scoop: It was an uninspiring start to the season for Rodriguez, whose on-base percentage settled south of .300 in mid-May. Since then, he’s terrorized Carolina League pitchers, bringing his overall line up to .275/.354/.505 through 57 games. The offensive bar for a first baseman is high, but Rodriguez has the power for the position. The question is whether is funky swing and high swing-and-miss rate will play at higher levels, so the jump to Double-A will be a big test.

11. Cody Anderson, rhp, Indians

Team: Triple-A Columbus (International)
Age: 24
Why He’s Here: 1-0, 2.57, 14 IP, 10 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 15 SO

The Scoop: Anderson has decided not to walk anybody this year, and he has a 1.64 ERA through 48 innings to show for that strategy. He issued nine walks in nine starts at Double-A Akron prior to his promotion to Triple-A, where he walked only one batter in his first start at that level. Anderson completed seven innings in that start, while giving up only one run on four hits and striking out nine.

I count 44 names on the Arizona SUmmer League Indians roster, and that's before any signings from this year's draft.

http://www.milb.com/roster/index.jsp?cid=2770&sid=milb

This includes pretty much the entire roster of our 2014 Dominican team, include basestealing champion Gabriel Mejia, lots of AZL returnees like another baserunning CF Silento Sayles; and top draft pick pitchers from 2014 Sam Hentges and Grant Hockin.

Either they're going to field two teams, or promote some and release a lot more.

e gads

Lake County Captains
Player IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA
Justus Sheffield 3.1 7 7 7 4 5 2 4.91

Player Pos AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO AVG
Bobby Bradley 1B 4 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 3 .258

Mama said there'd be days like this.

At least Allen had 3 hits, 3 runs, and 2 RBI for the Captains. Wasn't a total disaster for them.

Lots of good hitting for Lynchburg on Saturday:

Luigi Rodriguez takes over the league lead with his 10th homer, added a double; he also strikes out way too much: 59 times this spring and only 19 walks. He's also 15/20 in steals. OPS 874. Missed time last year; still only 22.

Nellie two singles, a walk, two RBI, two more K. OPS 858

Zimmer doubled, walked and stole his 26th.

Frazier singled, walked and racked up 3 Ks.

Papi doubled [first one-hit game in weeks], walked twice and he too fanned twice.

J.P. Feyereisen now with the Hillcats, pitched 1 2/3 scoreless.
