That was like a cricket swing by Hafner!

I used the archive feature of mlb.tv to watch that 14-run inning at Yankme stadium the other year ... it all started with an 85-foot single by Pronk.

Royals announcers were discussing the Hochevar melt after the first hit. Topic went to "how many pitchers with a no-hitter go bad after the first hit."

Frank White (I think) offered, "I've always believed that if a pitcher has a no-hitter in the 7th or 8th in a close game he should be taken out after the first hit."

He really said it.

His rationale was that "something bad always seems to happen after that first hit"
