Dunno why BA doesn't list him cause he is a legit prospect, but Greg Allen extended his hit streak to 8 games last night.

early game for the Captains.

http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.js ... x&sid=milb

Chang with his 4th homer. Lots of errors by the SS but we'll move him to 2nd or 3rd or LF sooner or later anyway.
Bobby Bradley is already at 1st base, so nowhere to move his glove other than to a locker and he becomes a DH. he made his 6th error in 20 games played in the field. That's pretty poor for a 1st baseman.
Greg Allen had two singles and two steals, total of steals now 17.
Unimpressive line by LH Sean Brady: 6-8-3-3-2-0. Soft tossing lefty of the future.

Allen didn't make the Tribe Top 30 coming in to the season. Why not? I don't know. The BA writer who conducted the Tribe prospect chat last winter claimed to be a big fan. They only post day by day numbers for guys who were Top 30 before the season. So it's up to you and me to keep track of Greg. We could petition BA to delete or replace Ronny Rodriguez who either is injurd or has been released but hasn't played a game in either case, with Allen for the rest of the season.

Here are the boxes so you can check everyone out

http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.js ... d=20150527

A few other lines I noted:

Walters singled, doubled and homered for Columbus.
Kyle Crockett who I want back in CLE as soon as he's refined his game, threw a perfect inning with a K, era 8.56

RH Jeff Johnson a 25 year old reliever, who missed all of 2014, looking good: 18-10-2-1-5-21 but of course the question is he doing with hard stuff that can play at higher levels or just fooling AA batters?

Papi hitless in 3 back to 168. Mendoza line a long way off.

Bradley made his 6th error. [on review, this is the same box posted yesterday; maybe the game had been suspended? anyway it's the same error I reported yesterday]

Mike Papi keeps command of the Stiff of the Year contest. Another 0-4 keeps his avg far away from .200. His slash line is a mighty: 163/311/218. Zero power; his 8 xb hits in 170 at bats are all doubles. His 31 walks are very nice, but offset by 48 strikeouts.

His brief stay in Lake County last August wasn't an awful lot better: 178/305/274. I would return him to Eastlake and let Zimmer, Frazier and the two Rodriguezes continue to lead the Hillcats offense. [Until they decide to promote Luis Rodriguez and Zimmer to Akron. Maybe then Papi can earn a return to the Carolina League. But he sure isn't ready for the league he's in now.]

Yesterday papi's teammates had the following results:

Luigi Rodriguez singled and added his 3rd triple to his totals that include 8 doubles and 8 homers. 299/355/545. He's repeating the Carolina League, but don't see any reason for him to stay there. Akron has a terrible collection of outfielders and Luigi deserves the shot. Still only 22, he should be re-considered, like Allen, as a top 30 prospect.

Zimmer singled and walked. 320/420/527. Only reason to keep him in Lynchburg is to win the MVP. I'm sure he'll be in Akron at latest by the midseason All Star games. He's two weeks younger than Luigi.

Nellie Rodriguez also singled and walked. 2 strikeouts. Less consistent than his two above teammates. 255/335/453. He's a year and half younger; won't be 21 until two weeks from today.

Not as great week as last for Zimmer, but who's going to complain about an OPS of 1.277. He squeezes onto the Hot Prospect List again:

17. Bradley Zimmer, cf, Indians

Team: high Class A Lynchburg (Carolina)
Age: 22
Why He’s Here: .450/.577/.700 (9-for-20), 11 R, 2 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBIs, 4 BB, 2 SO, 1-for-1 SB

Zimmer is doing everything that could be hoped for from a college first-round pick playing in the Carolina League. He will take over the league’s batting lead (.320) shortly when the since-promoted Billy McKinney drops below the plate-appearance threshold. He leads the league in home runs (eight), ranks second in steals (20-for-21) and is among league leaders in most other offensive categories. In other words, he’s doing everything possible to earn a midseason promotion to Double-A Akron.

BA Prospect chat, Tribe-related Q and A:

Kenny (Charlotte): Can someone please PROMOTE Bradley Zimmer already? What are the Indians waiting for???

Ben Badler: There are a TON of these types of questions that I get every day about why a team hasn't promoted some prospect who's hitting well. With Zimmer, he's been outstanding, I'm sure he could handle Double-A right now and he'll probably be there soon. But we're also barely a third of the way into the season, it's not like they're just leaving him in Low-A, and there are other factors in play when teams consider promotions (including who's going to get bumped out of the way at the next level), and it's not like there's some urgency to get any prospect to Double-A. Patience, my friend

[in this case, there's no one to be bumped out of the way; the Akron OF is Naquin, who probably should be promoted to Columbus, and career minor leaguers Jordan Smith [big guy with absolutely no power] and Bryson Myles [five roughly equal tools, some power, some speed, but none at big league level, and routinely on the DL]
