obviously none of our guys make the first BA Prospect Hot Sheet, since no one's been particularly hot. But we escape membership on the short "not so hit" list--- Papi's 6 walks saved him from official ignominy, but since 4 of those and his one hit were in his first 3 games, and he's 0-19 with 2 walks since then he could have qualified for the honor. Mejia and Lindor hitting under 150 are pretty darn unhot too.

Brad Zimmer showing his variety of offensive skills early today: his 3rd homer [minor leagues entering today had only two guys with more than 3], hit by a pitch and records his 4th steal [quite certain he leads our organization in that category too]
Teammate Luigi Rodriguez with a double and his first homer. He was a pretty good prospect until some injury setbacks, still only 22, so he's same age as Zimmer. and same as Mike Papi who's average is dropping much more slowly now, 1-27 he's hitting 37.
Mitch Brown in 5 innings has allowed 2 earned runs, no walks, 4 strikeouts.

Zimmer sounds like a darn fine all around good ball player.
Rohlinger just went deep for Clips.

Aguillar with his first homer for Clippers.
Erik Gonzalez drops below 200 for Akron.
Shawm Morimando recorded 9 strikeouts in only 4 2/3 innings, 2 runs allowed; era after 2 games is 1.86
I tuned in to the Captains to hear Justus Sheffield working. He's run his scoreless strike for the season to 9 2/3 innings before departing, he had 6K and 2 walks and 2 hits in his 4 innings so far. Chang broke up the W.Michigan no-hitter with his 4th double; team batting average coming in was below 170 and it's not improving; he scored on a wild pitch.
Bradley worked his 6 walk of the season, near his 8 K in 21 official AB, avg down to 190

Carlos Moncrief with 1st homer and first 3 rbi of the season to give Sean Marcum a 3-1 lead after 3. Only run unearned due to Marcum's error.
Akron scoreless tie after 3. Mike Clevinger acquired for Pestano in his second solid start.
Lynchburg scored 7 runs yesterday but Pasquale and Aviles surrendered 10 in relief. Papi ran his hitless streak to 23 during which he has 2 walks. For the season, 1-30. Zimmer and Frazier both hitting 303, Z's OPS is 1001, F's 728. Zimmer the only Carolina Leaguer with as many as his 3 hrs; he's tied with 2 others for stolen base lead with 5. Luis Lugo on the hill today.
Lefty Thomas Pannone starting for Lake County. Captains pulled out a 4-3 win last night. Chang led the way with a single and a double. Awful RF David Amendariz is hitless in 16 AB. J.P. Feyereisen career scoreless streak reaches 20 innings.

4 run first for Hillcats, big key a 2 run double for the redhot Luigi Rodriguez [he also collects a steal] and even Papi came through with a hit. But Lugo is getting blaseted. 7 runs on 8 hits in 3 innings
Akron being shutout again, through 5. Clevinger put 10 on base in 4 1/3 but only 1 scored.
Lindor with his first HR of the year. Moncrief adds a single and walk to his HR. Clippers ahead 4-2.
YTD: Moncrief has 6 walks, 7 strikeouts. last year with Columbus: 38 walks, 130 K.
Allen and Bradley have both walked, no. 8 for Bradley Captains ahead 2-0 in the 3rd

Zimmer and Frazier are the only two minor league hitters who anyone should care about. They need to stay on track to be studs!!! These other stiffs are just there so they have someone to play games with.
Bradley? We'll see. Wait until next year to evaluate him.
Papi is overmatched already....
