You're right, Allen circa 2013 and Pestano circa 2012, would be a very fine combo; Shaw doesn't impress me as much but as the 3rd or 4th RH he's plenty good. I hope Outman and Rpzdfdkfjyy can be a good enough pair of lefties.

Indians signed RHP Aaron Harang to a minor league contract.
The veteran right-hander is already in camp with his new squad. The 35-year-old had a tough 2013 season, posting a 5.40 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 113/40 K/BB ratio over 143 1/3 innings with the Mariners and Mets.

Actually a pretty solid season as recently as 2012. Can't hurt to look, Callaway has done some good things with worse.

Tomlin is another mensa. I applaud the Indians for going to arbitration with all these guys. None of them deserve the money they are making and part of the reason that the economics of baseball is out of wack is the way that the process has been perverted because teams dont want to offend these bozos feelings.

FYI, the Captains are giving away a Jobu bobblehead sometime this season!

MLB.com's Jordan Bastian says Carlos Santana "looked comfortable" during a third base drill Monday.
Santana played third base in winter ball and will be tried there throughout the spring to see if he can handle the position. Gaining eligibility at the hot corner would be a huge boost to the 27-year-old's already-lofty fantasy value. He hit .268/.377/.455 with 20 home runs and 74 RBI in 154 games last season for the Indians.

Don't know what the drill was but I've never seen anybody look "uncomfortable" during a ST drill.

Went to Indians camp today. Really like their team. Great clubhouse, lively conversation everywhere. They enjoy being around each other.

Santana looks more than comfortible. He'll be our starting third baseman on opening day. I'll be quite surprised if he is not.

I still think they would like to see Lonnie showing interest in improving himself and becoming a regular. But unlike Carlos who volunteers to spend the winter learning a new position Lonnie refuses to play ball in the winter. A very un-Joe-friendly approach to baseball. And it's hard to imagine Tito is too excited either.

Indians, Justin Masterson avoid arbitration, agree to $9.7625M deal

CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman reports that the Indians and right-hander Justin Masterson have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $9.7625-million contract for 2014.

Earlier this offseason, Masterson had filed an arbitration figure of $11.8 million, while the team countered with a filed figure of $8.05 million.

Masterson, 28, logged a 3.45 ERA (109 ERA+) and 1.20 WHIP in 193 innings in 2013. He led MLB with three complete game shutouts and finished the year in the bullpen because of an oblique injury. Masterson has thrown 180+ innings in each of the last four seasons and for his career owns an ERA+ of 100 across parts of six major-league seasons.

Masterson is eligible for free agency after the upcoming season.

Sounds like he's the type of player, and person, who could become a real star and team leader very quickly.

With Tito the manager, and some of the possibilities this season, it's easy to get excited about our Tribe.
