When we met she was living in Canfield. I was working in New Mexico but traveled back to help take care of my mother who landed in the hospital with cancer. While I was there taking care of her affairs I kicked around a little from Youngstown to Cleveland, went to a Cavs-Celts playoff game that LBJ dominated, and the next day met her in a coffee shop on my way back coming through Niles (or one of those towns) - the rest is history. She graduated from YSU with an art degree after raising 2 sons pretty much on her own. She grew up in the rural parts of Ohio and Pa. (went to school in Kinsman), most of her family is still living in rural areas somewhere near one of the 3 rivers. A bit of a coincidence since my brother taught and was an administrator at a Christian school near Kinsman for several years and I recall visiting them there when I was still working in Wyo./MT. She's pretty much a country girl at heart, but she doesn't like to live more than an hour from the conveniences of a bigger city either. One of her sons now lives in Austintown, the other is working near Toronto.

She's a pretty casual Steeler fan, nowhere near as rabid as I am about the Browns. She got to enjoy their recent super bowl rings like a lot of people in the area after the Browns left so I guess defecting worked out for her. Not that she was ever much of a Browns fan to begin with. After being unsuccessfully married to 2 California women there was a different kind of "back home" appeal to hanging out with her, I think having some common roots can help in the comfort level of a relationship.

Have a lot of family currently living between Austintown and Canfield.

Rest living in Brookfield and New Castle.

Really glad things are working out for you and your family.

Being from New Castle Pa, almost all of my immediate family are Steeler fans.

Indians get Rzepczynski from STL for Herrera

Indians acquired LHP Marc Rzepczynski from the Cardinals for INF Juan Herrera.

Rzepczynski posted a 4.63 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 79 2/3 total innings for St. Louis after heading over from Toronto in the mid-2011 Colby Rasmus trade. The 27-year-old left-hander has been especially bad this summer and will look to turn things around with a change of scenery. Herrera is a raw 20-year-old infielder from the Dominican.

Indians Acquire Marc Rzepczynski

The Cardinals and Indians have agreed on a trade that will send left-hander Marc Rzepczynski to Cleveland, according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (on Twitter). Jordan Bastian of MLB.com tweets that the Cardinals will receive a low-level minor leaguer in exchange.

Rzepcynzski, 27, was optioned to Triple-A Memphis at the end of April after a rough start to the season. In Memphis, he posted a 3.33 ERA with 6.3 K/9 and 3.7 BB/9 in 44 innings of work -- a significant improvement from the 7.84 ERA he's posted at the Major League level this season. Rzepcynski was recalled recently and has made a pair of July appearances for the Cardinals.

Rzepcynski, whose nickname is "Scrabble" (for obvious reasons), has been effective against left-handed hitters throughout his career, holding them to a .224/.298/.310 batting line over parts of five big league seasons with the Blue Jays and Cardinals. St. Louis acquired him in the 2011 Colby Rasmus trade. Cleveland GM Chris Antonetti said recently that his club has been on the lookout for bullpen arms that can retire left-handed hitters, and Rzepczynski fits that bill.

Indians Designate Joe Martinez For Assignment

The Indians have designated right-hander Joe Martinez for assignment in order to clear a roster spot for the recently acquired Marc Rzepczynski, according to MLB.com's Jordan Bastian (on Twitter).

The 30-year-old Martinez allowed one run in five innings of work across two relief appearances for the Tribe this season. In 55 2/3 Major League innings between the Giants, Pirates, D'Backs and Indians, Martinez has a 5.82 ERA with 5.2 K/9 and 3.4 BB/9. Martinez was one of two players the Giants sent to the Pirates in exchange for Javier Lopez at the 2010 trade deadline.

From afar, Cleveland might appear to be a place with a disproportionate incidence of depravity in the ruins of collapsed neighborhoods.

With the return of national media in recent times to report stories involving serial killers, a school massacre, and the women imprisoned on Seymour Avenue, it might seem that no good news emerges from Cleveland – that life is bleak.

My thoughts about Cleveland present do not come without co-believers around the nation, I assure you.

In full disclosure, the author of the above article writing about the escape of Amanda Berry and now freedom after 10 years of sexual slavery confined in an Obama voting neighborhood, did celebrate her freedom and good first steps back, and it was a good and worthwhile offering for her.

When he continued on about how great and resilient and accomplishing the people of Cleveland are, I mentally gave the writer the International Sign for "jacking it."

Speaking of which, J.R, why do you continue to edit and delete my posts?

Oh, and where is Hillbilly?

I guess his political views did not agree with hippies now living in Colorado, or something. Or maybe he did not belong to the correct Union.

Needed a lefty reliever, got a lefty reliever...lets hope he can get the job done. Give Pestano a couple weeks in Columbus to straighten himself out.

Peavy to Boston, for a backup shortstop to Detroit in case our ex-shortstop/3rd Base gets suspended for taking Steroids, a minor league out fielder and a minor league relief pitcher.

Peavy was said to be one of the best pitchers available, he would be the 4th on our current SP roster....behind Jimenez. No wonder he went for little more than a bag of peanuts.
