Re: Minor Matters
3467None of ours in the Hot Prospect Watch, which is not too surprising. No one did anything special.

Re: Minor Matters
3473Memorial Day games:
http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.js ... d=20140526
Pitcher of the day: Joe Colon a 9 inning complete game 3 hit 1 walk shutout on 95 pitches. He's no a strikeout threat; is he a prospect? Never been rated as one, other than by Joe.
Runner up: Robbie Aviles 6 2 hit shutout innings for Lake County in a 1-0 loss. 2 walks 2 K. For the season the 22 year old RH's line: 50 IP 34 hits 7 walks 31 K 1.45. Another non-K thrower but was rated very highly pre-major injury which occurred before Tribe drafted him at a steep discount. Deserves a promotion to Carolina where there are really no prospects on hand.
Good relief: in Columbus, Hagadone 2 perfect innings with 4K; Barnes 1 with 1; VinnieP 1 with none. CCLee struggled through a scoreless inning with 2K also 2 walks and a hit.
Hitter of the day: Joe Wendle: LH hitter 2b for Akron with 2 doubles (total is 13) 4 RBI.
Teammate Lindor with a single, walk, 11th steal, 10th error. 289
Naquin 2 hits, 290.
Myles hits.
Ready for Cleveland: Jason Kipnis hitless in 4 tries and makes the requisite error.

Re: Minor Matters
3477Joseph Colon (SP, Akron): 9.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K. This was a special outing from Colon as he needed just 95 pitches (66 strikes) to get through it and in the process he threw his first minor league shutout and complete game in the same game. If you don’t know who he is you better start paying attention as he is one of the Indians best starting pitching prospects and is having a breakthrough season. In 10 starts he is now 4-2 with a 2.30 ERA and has a 23-40 walk to strikeout ratio, .210 BAA and 1.08 GO/AO.

Re: Minor Matters
3478Jesus Aguilar (DH, Columbus): 0-for-1, BB. Aguilar was pinch hit for in the 7th inning, though he was not injured. With Nick Swisher getting hurt on Monday the Indians either A.) removed Aguilar from the lineup to ensure he is not hurt and have him on standby as they decide what to do with Swisher, or B.) they have already decided to place Swisher on the DL and wanted to get Aguilar on a plane to Chicago as soon as possible so he can play on Tuesday against lefty Chris Sale (I vote for the latter being the case).

Re: Minor Matters
3479Joe Colon is having a very effective season. Whether it's a breakthrough or not depends on what kind of stuff he's using to get out AA hitters. I don't know now hard he throws but if he's not up to 90 mph he'll need to have consistently very good command of a couple offspeed pitches to turn into a Josh Tomlin clone. The Tomlin role model is a tough one to follow and, witness Josh's demotion to start 2014, the soft tossing RH will always be in line for demotion behind the next young gun on the horizon.
Re: Minor Matters
3480Dace Kime and Luis Lugo combine on a 10 inning 1 hitter for the Captains.
Lugo's innings were no-hit, he walked 3 and fanned 3. He has 47 strikeouts in 40 innings; much better than last season for Mahoning Valley where the 6-5 lefty had 30 K in 50 innings. He's been inconsistent, ERA is 5.22, but Civ breakout pitcher of the year pick, at 20 years old must rate as one of the best starter prospects.
Kime has been getting better after a terrible April, his line yesterday was 5-1-2-2-3-1 and ERA down to 6.75. April: 9.95, WHIP 2.2; May 4.34, WHIP 1.3.
