Cody Allen has won a bullpen spot, along with Pestano, Smith, Hill and if healthy Perez. Albers has not pitched well. Hagadone has been nearly flawless. Shaw's stat line has been good. Capps and Barnes and Huff are all supposed to be in play for the 7 or even 8 man pen.

Matt Underwood:
Indians have told Dice K he will not make the team. If he agreed to go to minors, Indians would love to keep him.

Bauer is one pretty strange kid. And a very good pitcher. As long as Francona, the pitching coach, Santana and Marson all agree to give him plenty of space to be himself, he can wind up as a top of the rotation starter and we have few other serious candidates for such a rating (he certainly should wind up slotting above our current No. 1). I can foresee numerous run-ins for Bauer over his career and probably more trades than usual for a top arm.

Obituary for Fred Whitfield in today's Baseball America. Wingy was 75. Played for the Tribe from 1963 through 1967. Back year was 1965 (the year I had my APBA set so I think of him as a star hitter) when he hit 293 with 26 homers. Added 27 homers the next season.

Got him in a steal from the Cards for IF Jack Kubiszyn

Wasn't he our "Yankee-killer" back then? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Yes, Vic, he was. This is the only Cleveland Indian I had the pleasure of meeting. However, I met him when he was with the Pirates. He was in So. Sioux City, NE at the time with another friend of mine when we were introduced. Imagine how I felt when he was traded to the Indians! I was a big fan of his from that time on.

Going through withdrawal. How many days before they count ?? I tried to watch a couple of spring training games on the MLB channel but it's about as exciting as watching paint dry.

Some excitement in the Tribe game yesterday, Joe. Boatloads of hits and two guys knocked out of the game.

Matt Underwood:
Indians announce LHP Scott Kazmir be added to roster and start April 6th at Tampa Bay. Carlos Carrasco will start the season on roster and serve his 6-game suspension. Jason Giambi also makes the team but, will start year on 15-day DL with lower back strain (not serious).
