This is what I'm talking about - it is far and away the theme in pro sports. Low attendance AND bad facility.

The Cleveland situation doesn't fit this model.

In fact, I expect Tampa Bay is next in line for this.

Yankees purchased the contract of OF Greg Allen from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The 28-year-old struggled during his time in the big leagues last season, hitting just .154/.281/.308 with a 10/3 K/BB ratio in 32 plate appearances between the Padres and Indians. In 35 games at Triple-A this season, he's hitting .263/.402/.343 with one homer, eight RBI and six stolen bases

Greg Allen went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base on Wednesday in the Yankees' extra-inning win over the Phillies.

Allen smacked an RBI double off reliever Cristopher Sánchez in the fourth inning and stole third base later in the frame. The 28-year-old outfielder has stolen a base in three consecutive games, and appears to have carved out a role in the Yankees' outfield mix moving forward. He's hitting .417/.500/.750 with five runs scored and three steals in five games in Pinstripes

Brad Hand was saddled with a loss after being charged with two runs (one earned) over two innings against the Marlins.

Hand tossed a scoreless ninth inning to send the contest to extra-innings, but didn't fare so well after that. He surrendered an RBI double to Jorge Alfaro and also coughed up an RBI sacrifice fly to Miguel Rojas later in the frame.

The 31-year-old lefty has recorded 20 saves to go along with a 2.63 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 40/16 K/BB ratio across 41 innings this season.

Rays recalled RHP DJ Johnson from Triple-A Durham.

The 31-year-old was recently acquired at the trade deadline from Cleveland and posted a 3.32 ERA and 1.62 WHIP over 21 2/3 frames with Triple-A Columbus. Johnson will take the place of Jeffrey Springs, who was placed on the injured list with a right knee sprain, on the Rays active roster.

Interesting -

The Blue Jays traded John Axford to the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday for cash, which the AP reported was $1 (presumably USD).

(Players not on the 40-man can be dealt after the deadline.)
