ERA 2023 3.87 151 IP
ERA 2022 3.73 150 IP
ERA 2021 3.76 93 IP

Fine track record but no idea what he can contribute this year
And he certainly WILL NOT ease the burden on the bullpen.

Mets shutout the Twins 2-0
Sox lead the Royals 2-1 end of 6.
Guards off Wednesday.
Huge 4 game series vs the O's at home starts Thursday.
I'll be more than happy getting out of that series at 2-2.

Royals won [giving Sox loss #16 in a row] KC and MN are 6.5 games behind with 1/3 of the season remaining.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Guardians pitcher Tanner Bibee will have his next start pushed back until at least after this weekend and will not face the Orioles after experiencing tightness in his right shoulder, manager Stephen Vogt told reporters Thursday.

Bibee allowed a pair of runs on seven hits over six innings in his last start in Detroit on Monday. Vogt said his shoulder tightened up after the outing and that he will not pitch until after Baltimore leaves town.

“We just want to make sure that we’re being smart,” Vogt said. “So we’re going to push him back to after the weekend.”

Rookie left-hander Joey Cantillo will start Saturday for Cleveland against Baltimore righty Zach Eflin. Cantillo allowed three runs on four hits, including a pair of home runs to Kyle Schwarber, in his major league debut on Sunday in Philadelphia. The Guardians went on to win that game, 4-3.

I hope they are willing to bring Boyd up to the majors for his next start, he pitched yesterday for columbus, so 5 days from now he can work for the Gs
I'd much rather see Cobb than Cantillo who is almost certainly not ready for the majors, but I guess it all depends on his blister

The last thing we need is Bibee to miss starts.

Impressive game against the Orioles; unheralded Lively won his 10th. O's newly acquired Tyler Rogers didn't look like much.
Jose is hot again and that is good to see.

a couple unpromising matchups
Today Joey Cantillo vs. Zach Elfin. Tomorrow Gavin Williams vs Corbin Burnes
Elfin will try to break the string of poor to awful performances by newly acquired pitchers. He did debut OK last week but the big test is vs the tough Guardian lineup which roughed up Rogers and annihiliated Soto.
Williams can compete with anyone but Burnes is their ace.
I'll be thrilled to win one of the two. At worst we split the series.

Don't know if the young dynamic Orioles hitters always field as badly as they did yesterday. Defense is one of the Guardians' less noticed strengths.

vs RH Elfin, Martinez is back at #2 in CF; Thomas is hitting 5th; Schneeman completes the OF in left batting 7th; Kwan is DH.

O's hoping for something useful from newly acquired Eloy Jiminez, once upon a tme a top of the charts prospect. In 2019, 20 and 22 he had OPS between 828 and 891. Lat year 758, this year 639.

Elfin's Oriole debut was better than Rogers and Soto, but nothing terrific: 6 10 3 3 0 7

Hoping for upcoming return to Columbus for Cantillo and Curry
Joey got through the lineup once this time but then he was finished. Also doesn't know that he also has to play defense, not just watch his infielders run around
Curry isn't the guy we enjoyed last seson.

For the rotation, Cobb is ready after pitching 4 2/3 effective innings Saturday. Just happens to be on the same schedule as Cantillo
Boyd has had numerous rehab starts and certainly appears ready too.

For the bullpen, Hentges has had a start to his rehab and Morgan is ready if they want him.

Williams wasn't very good.
Josh N with a 3 run homer to claw within 1.
but Herrin and Sandlin combined to allow 2 and that put us back out of range again.

Former O's minor leaguer Connor Gillespie up to replace Curry did an ok 3 innings giving up 1.
So we wind up with a split between the 2 best in the AL.

another series against a good team:

Probable pitchers and start times: LHP Logan Allen (8-4, 5.67) vs. RHP Zac Gallen (9-5, 3.56) on Monday at 6:40 p.m.; ALLEN RETURNS AFTER A SO SO STAY IN AAA

RHP Ben Lively (10-6, 3.42) vs. TBD on Tuesday at 6:40 p.m.; WHO WOULD HAVE IMAGINED LIVELY IS OUR TOP WINNER

HP Carlos Carrasco (3-9, 5.53) vs. RHP Brandon Pfaadt (5-6, 3.97) on Wednesday at 1:10 p.m. COULD WELL BE CARLOS' LAST START
