Joe,

I don't know if Plesac would be available today; he worked 1 inning last night. That's not much but he's inexperienced as a reliever.

They can get multiple innings from Stephan; one wild and crazy inning from Karinchak; we know that Clase can go 2 if called on.
And Hentges and DelosSantos pitched 2 days ago so are available too

Just posted a story in articles on the state of both teams' pitching. Civale's 2 starts vs NY this April were

1 Atrocious
2 Not particularly good

Taillon vs CLE
Just fine'
but no good out of the bullpen a few days ago

As Naylor passed first base, he rocked his arms, as if swaddling a child. He kept doing it as he crossed second. When he reached third base, he called out to his dugout. “That’s my son,” he appeared to say. The history between the two men is not extensive. When Naylor went deep Sunday, it marked the third time he had homered off Cole. The first one came in the 2020 postseason.

(Naylor did not speak to reporters in the Guardians clubhouse after the game. His teammate, Triston McKenzie, had told MLB.com earlier in the season about his teammate, “When he hits homers off people, he calls them his son.”)

When asked about the gesture, a couple of hours later, Cole scoffed.

“Yeah, whatever,” Cole said. “It was cute.”

Cole said he did not see Naylor’s gesture in real time. He saw the clip after the game. “It wouldn’t have bothered me in the moment,” Cole said. “And it just is kind of funny.”

Asked if this was the first time an opposing player had ever made a paternity claim on him, Cole managed to chuckle. “I’d have to check the tape,” he said. “Not as far as I can recall.”

Excerpt from Articles:
It’s only been two games, but Francona has been impressed by what rookie Gabriel Arias has done at first base. “I don’t think the moment is anywhere near too big for him,” said Francona. “He looks comfortable. He moved really well to his right on a ball. I think he’s been fine. He’s been tested, too.”
That's the nail in the coffin of Owen Miller who can't play 1st or hit.

Does anyone think Civale will last 5 innings? If we're extremely lucky he'll give them 4 and a third or two solid innings and then turn it over to the bullpen

he walks the leadoff man which is a great way to start the ball game.
and after whiffing Judge he hits Rizzo

Time to get the bullpen ready

Blame this on Francona ! Start a guy that almost every Yankee has homered off of this year !

You have to know that this umpire has a tight strike zone and you are throwing a pitcher that has to fool everyone. Bad combination, bad decision and bad results.

Not the situation to hope for the best.

When Bieber leaves in a few years, you are going to question why you did not start him.

9 pitches to retire the first 5 Indians including a base hit. Sounds like a terrible game plan !
