Bottom 4 in today's lineup are hitting:

200 Bradley getting too Bradleyesque of late 1-19, a homer of course, 11 K; 6-43 3 of those hits homers 26K!
211 I guess Mercado gets to platoon with Zimmer in RF. I guess it makes sense; Mercado vs LH 250/375/323 Zimmer vs RH 257/390/356
Zimmer is a good defense RF. Is Mercado?
140 Perez last had a hit on July 18! 0-19 since then. Splitting the job with Hedges; who is an impressive 5-24 over that the same time period
206 I've always been impresses with Clement's combination of few XB hits, few walks, few steals. He does work hard and hustle. And field fairly OK.
When the team crosses the border Giminez will rejoin the team and I assume Ernie will continue on to Columbus

Before this season JC Mejia had never pitched above Class A He should have stsrtef this year in akron until he earned a promotion to Columbus
Indtead this year is a total waste of his development He has no business pitching in the majors Earning an ERA of nearly 9 i hope doesn’t totally shoot his confidence
They should have picked up some washed up veteran instead

Getting deja vu of the Houston series here.

When you face REAL lineups with hitters like those 2 teams you can't be running out AA and AAA pitchers. They are too good and too smart.

Well you CAN run them out there but the result will not be attractive.

Mejia had 131 innings in A ball and never pitched higher before this season. Perhaps he has the talent to be a good prospect but of course he was not ready for the majors. He's like a Rule 5 pick who you have to keep around but you don't have to throw him in the starting rotation. I think they totally misused him and hope they haven't ruined his career.

Perhaps but the freakish injuries to our top 3 starters for a very long period led to guys getting tossed in.

Who knew but perhaps Eli Morgan actually benefitted.

It's the type of injury deluge that torpedoes seasons. Especially when your whole season is based on your starting pitching and THAT is the area that gets hit.

I feel bad for Mejia; hope he like a Rule 5 kid, next year goes back to Akron or Columbus, spends the whole season in the minors, and develops against hitters not superior to him

I know we have no one else available; I think it would have been smart to waste a few millions on same veteran with Tomlin-esque skills.

Anyway, we've dropped below 500 at least and seems unlikely they'll emerge. But they've bounced back unexpectedly before; perhaps this will be a test of what the team can achieve in a post-Francona environment.

Thought Giminez was due to return when the team got back from Canada. But we're again going with Clement at 3rd, Rosario at SS and Miller at 2nd, with Jose the DH.

At AAA Giminez is hitting 284/341/562. 10 homers in 204 AB along with 13 doubles and a triple. Too many strike outs 55 in 216 Total Appearances.
Clement has 3 homeruns in his pro career, 1075 at bats in the minors and 74 in the majors. 81 walks in 1231 total appearances. He does hustle however.

You've taken over the Hillbilly "Kiss of Life"!

Seriously though - if nothing else Clement is an amazing fielder at multiple positions. He may never hit consistently but a utility guy is his future.

Myles Straw went 3-for-5 and drove in a pair of runs on Friday night, leading the Indians to a 6-1 victory over the visiting Tigers.

Straw drove home the Indians first run with an RBI single off of Matt Manning in the third inning. He chipped in another run-scoring knock off of Manning in the fourth and swiped second base, but was stranded there. With the three-hit attack, he's now hitting .267/.342/.330 with three homers, 37 RBI and 18 stolen bases on the season.

Guys if we come out of this season with a starting speedy full time center fielder and Quantrill/McKenzie having gotten all this experience and passing their auditions it really bodes well for next season.

Plus very little salary commitment. I do believe this was the plan for this season.

Reading between the lines I do believe money will be spent on upgrading the offense this coming offseason. These audtions will simply show us WHERE those are most needed.

One would imagine corner outfields would be the no brainer unless someone unexpected really runs with it. I like Harold Ramirez but in a perfect world he's your 4th outfielder and a good one.
