the hits just keep coming, 3-0 on another bases loaded single; then Quantrill throws a ball away hit back to the mound and we're up to 5-0.
can't blame this one on cold weather and strong wind that buffeted Morgan. He is simply having a totally crap game.
Is Hentges available in the pen today?
Well Sandlin gets the call in the 2nd and again we have 6 2/3 innings of relief pitching ahead of us. Should be a good day for Mr. Rule 5 Stephans. BTW there's also a Stephens on Columbus; I thought our guy had been farmed out somehow until I discovered the difference. It's quite as identical as Logan Allen and Logan Allen.
Sandlin quickly clears the bases so 7 charged to Q for his 1 1/3 only +6 earned since his own error does not count against his pitching line.
i would today like to see Owen Miller get his major league debut on the mound. I do not want to waste our bullpen on this disaster

Bradley doubled yesterday, doubled in his first time up today. Until his last game with the Clippers he had only homers and singles this season.
Bobby is now 1 double behind Bauers in 2021 totals.

Hentges in relief was arguably worse than Quantrill. Although he didn't through any ground balls away he somehow managed to allow 9 hits in 1 2/3 innings with his ERA rising to 8.51; back to Columbus, please. Bring back McKenzie; stretch out Mejia who hasn't stunk even once yet. For a 5th starter go with a bullpen game. Or give Morgan a second try. There are some good starters in Lake County but I don't think theyre going to dig that deep. Can hope that Scott Moss stays healthy and gets up to 5 or 6 inning length for the Clippers.

Meanwhile, McKenzie with 5 shutout innings for far today for the Clippers. 2 hits 2 walks [Id prefer 0] 3K. Hard to imagine he'll stay there long with the options being the guys who pitched today.

Talk about a day you want to forget.
18 spot ass-kicking from an awful team.

What a disaster with Hentges and Quantrill!!
Great day for Bobby Bradley though. Of course we hope he runs with this!

Bobby Bradley now hitting 800. Not sure if the homer in the 9th to reduce the margin from 14 to 13 against a pitcher with ERA of over 12 is too significant but at least he's not Jake Bauers.

Hentges performance is not terribly out of character.
in 2016 for Lake County then Low A his ERA was 6.12
in 2017 he was rehabbing back in Short Season for a few games
good year in 2018 at Lynchburg ERA 3.27
and in 2019 for Akron 5.11
He has lot of talent and not very much success at mastering it.

Quantrill, apparently, is a reliever.
I do wish we'd something about how long Plesac is out. Weeks? Months? Add McKenzie and we have 4 starters. Mejia perhaps a 5th.

Kyle Nelson finished the disaster letting in 5 in his inning. He's either really good or really really bad.
his 2020 debut was 2/3 inning 4 runs ERA 54
his 2021 before Sunday 5 shutout innings.
His career now is 6 2/3 inning 9 runs. ERA 13,05,
I don't want Parker in the bullpen. I don't want Nelson either.
Soon but not yet we'll be seeing Nick Mikoljacheck another fast riser debuted in Akron this year and his ERA remains 0.

Said this before but you can see Hentges ability but he is still a work in progress. He was rushed - not his fault.

Amazing catch by Zimmer in last night's game - full stretch and diving. Scores him huge points in CF.

That play by Zimmer was fantastic. It's why I'd really like to see him hit at least a little. He could be a fine regular CF; we can carry his bat if the corner OFs and 1B can hit. At least until Reyes returns, Harold and Naylor and Bradley can alternate through DH.

Zimmer's last game he was 0-4 with 4 Ks.
He started last night's game 0-3 with 3 Ks
7Ks in a row? is that a record?
