Bauers with a homer off Ohtani. Avg goes over 200 OPS over 600
Eddie Rosario batting second for the second time went 0-4 in that spot again. His OPS is now below 600. An enormous flop.

Clase in the 8th, Karinhcak in the 9th close it out

McKenzie was really awful again tonight. Pitched a couple scoreless innings. Allowed a homer to AAA veteran Rob Refsnyder in the 3rd. Walked innumberable guys in the 4th and didn't finish the inning.
Triston has never pitched in AAA. It was nice of the Indians to give him a shot at the majors but he simply is not ready. This is not helping him any. Send him to Columbus for at least a couple months, don't promote him back unless or until he has reestablished command of his pitches and has mastered AAA.

Rosario error didn't help. Neither did Maton in relief who's let all 3 inherited runners score and one of his own; he's blown the game up to 7-0 and could help the team better in AAA himself.
We have a chance for the major league debut of another Not Ready for Prime Time RH Juan Carlos Mejia.

Can they just forfeit and come back tomorrow?
Maton is still at it, now it's up to 9-0.

Remember how bad the Twins have been all season? This could be their key turn around game.

It's heard to type fast enough. Now it's 10-0 and Maton keeps pumping it over and the Twins keep slapping it around

Booed unmercifully as he leaves the field [probably not, fans don't boo anymore, at least outside of NY and PHI] Maton departs at last and
Jean Carlos Mejia 24 year RH 6-5 240 enters.
Played in Dominican League starting way back in 2014 at age 9. Before this season he's only had 39 innings as high as High A. Worked 9 innings this month for Columbus, walking only 5 and brought up in case of a McKenzie implosion.
Will be heading back to Columbus after the game, with company I hope.

We've been getting posts about the success of Maton's brother. i'm glad one of them is successful.

Lots of TVs clicking off.

MLB should adopt an 8 or 10 run rule after 7.

I actually agree with the mercy rule concept at a certain point.

Shoot it's better than having position players pitch.

Or he switches roles with Quantrill. He did look good for 2 innings and we know how frail he is.

I think McKenzie's career would be much better served by spending a chunk of the season in AAA refining his command and maintaining his velocity, away from big league pressures and big league hitters.
Is Josh Tomliin around? He could fill in the rotation until McKenzie is actually ready for the majors.

Believe it or not Tomlin is in Atlanta's bullpen.

Quantrill is more seasoned, time to put him out in Triston's place. We have relievers to replace Quantrill.

Triston to Columbus. Nelson back to bolster the pen.

Then another OK but not great job by Bieber followed by another superstar job by Sandlin-Shaw-Clase-Karinchak; they pitched 4 2/3 hitless 2 walks, 6 strikeouts.

Reyes 2 run home
Hedges RBI single
Hernandez walk off homer

Reyes with an oblique strain. Those are rarely quick to heal. Perhaps they'll add another reliever to fill his spot, we only have 9, actually 10 now until Quantrill is declared a starter [or Mejia??]
