box score reveals a Home Run by Bauers!!!
a walk for Gamel and 0-2 now hitting 171. He stinks
only at bat for Luplow but he keeps his average perfect. Is this the last game of spring? If so he ends up with the same average he started with
Naylor hitless but did throw a runner out at 2nd

Civale OK 4 1/3 1 run
Shaw walked 1 fanned 3. Nice to see him looking good again. Hope it lasts into the real season
Karinchak faced 2 fanned them both
add in Clase's 1 inning and those three worked 2 2/3 0 hits 1 walk 6 strikeouts
Stephan lost it with 2 runs in his 1 inning.

May well be a major league First Time Ever: Jordan Luplow wins the opening day start with a spring average of NOTHING

Luplow of all people heads leadoff and amazingly did not get a hit. Hernandez doubled and was left on.
Cabrera 2 run blast off Bieber. That's more runs than Shane allowed most starts last year.

current temp in Detroit is 30. Why are they playing this thing?

this looks like the start of a really wonderful season; we have 1 hit already and the Tigers have 3 runs. Bieber has 7 strikeouts in 3 innings but that doesn't really help much

2 on 1 out for Naylor.

as you'd expect our outfielders are 0-5 so far with a couple strikeouts and 3 LOB. Let's see if Naylor can change that.

surprise surprise he doesn't but at least he didn't hit into a DP. so Chang gets a chance.

does a foul pop up to the catcher count as a moral victory? Bobby Bradley would have struck out so nothing to complain about.

Roberto Perez keeps drawing walks but nothing happens after he gets on. Luplow now has a fly out, a strike out and a ground out. I really do like the strategy of putting the guy with the worst batting average at the top of the lineup; the more chances the better.

We hold a pretty solid lead for runners in scoring position, 5-3. Our guys have struck out only 2 times, Tigers with 9 K in 4 1/3 innings. This looks a real moral victory is in the works.

Gamel gets his chance and hits nothing but air.

Here's our big shot: 2 on and our slugger Reyes up to bat.

Ooops doubleplay.
