6 K in 3 1 run innings for Allen. Maybe we get a lefty in the rotation of all things?
good innings for Gose and Stephen. Maybe we add another 100 mph arm in the pen? Maybe we keep a Rule 5 guy?

Ooops! Must be thinking about citrus. People in my neighborhood are giving away lemons and grapefruits this time of year. Got a pile of lemons that I'm going to juice and freeze.

Some small stuff that won't appear in the box scores today.

1. Quantrill got screwed - his box score will not reflect what happened. Many soft hit tweeners and one big misplay.
2. Bauers got a walk and promptly stole a base. Good to see and he IS taking his walks. Next time up he lined a double into the RF corner
3. Cesar Hernandez is a stud. Drove a breaking pitch the opposite way down the LF line for a double - what a great signing. This guy is a great at bat.
4. Slimmed down Jose Ramirez!
5. Eddie Rosario made a really nice running catch. This guy will be fine defensively.

Bauers walks a lot. and he hit a double that's even more impressive

Absolutely nothing. Chasing breaking pitches out of the zone.

Yeah and Bauers lined a double into the RF corner his next time up.

If Bauers can get on base and hit somewhat we know he is far and away the best fielding candidate for 1B.

Bo Naylor's blast was opposite field - out left center!

Tell you want, other than center field today I might put some money down on this lineup being the opening day one.

Still not convinced Bauers has a clue.

Maybe he had a come-to-Jesus moment after he watched 3 strikes in his 2nd AB Monday. I guess you can say he walked today but that was because the pitcher could not throw a strike in 4 pitches. When he can have an 8 or 9 pitch walk, I'll give him credit.

Watching the game again today and just saw C. Hernandez, E Rosario and J. Ramirez all steal bases in the same inning.

Seems to me they are baserunning more and stealing more than usual in spring training.

Anthony Gose. Seriously?

First he blows a fastball (98 mph) by freaking Corey Seager to send him to the bench.

Then, he starts Justin Turner, of all people out with a curve ball that he takes for a strike.

The Dodger announcer says, "IF Gose throws his curve ball like that and we saw him throw 98, he will be sticking around."

On a lesser note Naylor badly misplays a ball in RF. (He did tag a couple balls at the plate)

Oooo Chang getting reps at 1B today!

2 more hits for Gimenez. Saw an interview today on MLB Network with Tito. Didn't hide the fact that he is quite smitten with Gimenez.

Look if Gimenez can at least replicate Lindor defensively, it's huge. And if he hits even like last season (he is young I think he just might improve) then our return for Lindor was pretty sweet.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Zach Plesac said he felt “electric” after his previous spring start for the Cleveland Indians, but Saturday’s outing against San Francisco looked more like a short circuit.

Plesac struck out four of the 15 batters he faced, but allowed four runs and did not make it out of the third inning as San Francisco handed the Indians a 5-4 defeat in an exhibition game at Scottsdale Stadium.

Austin Slater’s three-run home run off Plesac followed an RBI single by Mauricio Dubon in the second second inning. Plesac loaded the bases with one out in the third before reaching his pitch limit.


Plesac allowed six hits and picked LaMonte Wade off at first base in the first inning, but never really settled into a groove the way he did in his previous start against Seattle. Sidearmer Nick Sandlin relieved Plesac in the third and worked out of a jam with back-to-back strikeouts of Darin Ruff and Dubon to escape further damage.

Sandlin, making his second exhibition appearance after missing most of the 2019 season with a forearm injury, was impressive against a pair of right-handed hitters.

Cleveland hitters were baffled by Giants righty Logan Webb who struck out six through three innings, including four strikeouts in the first inning. José Ramírez was the third batter Webb faced in the opening frame, but a dropped third strike allowed him to reach base before Franmil Reyes followed with an inning-ending strikeout on a Webb changeup.

Josh Naylor reached base twice, including a base hit and a walk. He scored on Yu Chang’s RBI triple to center in the fourth. Chang started the game at second base, but saw his first Cactus League action at first base when he moved over to replace Bobby Bradley in the fourth.

Cleveland added three runs in the fifth on an RBI double by José Ramírez, a sacrifice fly by Franmil Reyes and a wild pitch by Giants lefty Wandy Peralta that allowed pinch runner Tyler Krieger to come home from third.

Andrés Giménez, who collected two base hits and scored a run, committed his second error of the spring at shortstop on a ground ball by Joey Bart.


Nick Wittgren pitched a scoreless fourth and Emmanuel Clase allowed the go-ahead run on a solo homer by Curt Casali in the fifth. Oliver Perez, Bryan Shaw, Heath Hembree and Blake Parker recorded scoreless appearances.

Giants pitcher Rico Garcia retired Harold Ramirez on a pop fly to right field to end the top of the ninth, but both teams remained on the field to play a bottom of the inning after the umpiring crew left the park.

Indians catcher Beau Taylor called balls and strikes as righty Phil Maton allowed a pair of runs on three hits and a walk. Lefty Kyle Nelson pitched the final two-thirds of the inning.

“With a day off tomorrow we really needed those guys to throw,” Francona said. “It’s not perfect, but you hate to come all the way over here and not pitch.”

Next: The Indians have a scheduled off day Sunday in Goodyear, Ariz. There will be no Cactus League game; however, Cleveland will host Cincinnati for a B-squad game on a back field at the Indians training facility. Aaron Civale will pitch for Cleveland and Amed Rosario is expected to play center field. The Indians will be back in action Monday when they host Oakland at Goodyear Ballpark.
