Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Indians have checked in on A.J. Burnett.
The two clubs have talked about a possible swap involving Travis Hafner, who is owed $13 million this season and has a $2.75 million buyout on his $13 million club option for 2013. However, the Indians aren't sure if they'd do the deal and the Yankees don't mind some of the other DH options available in free agency. The Pirates remain the heavy favorites to land Burnett and chances are a deal will get done if they agree to take on $13 million of the $33 million remaining on his contract.

I know trolls. Kenm is not a troll.

Nod to Lloyd Bentsen.

Anyone who sincerely wants Cleveland sports teams to win gets a wide berth from me with regard to their comments, opinions and statements.

KenM is a Cleveland Fan.

I guess the point of a forum is for the posters to bless the feet of the owner. This Dolan family ruined the Knicks and they have ruined the Tribe and yet posters continue to shrug it off. There is a reason that goes beyond population loss why the Indians attendance has been awful for years. It is called lack of faith with this ownership group. Dolanites on this forum I guess dont mind being lied to time and again. They will spend when the time is right and this is our window and we need to find some bats. Every year we go into the season with a pop gun and the big market club Detroit comes equipped with a bazooka. When we cant even get into the bidding with the ultimate moneyball team Oakland that is pretty pathetic. The fact that our top pitcher was pitching with a fake name and a fake age says all we want to know about this team. Contraction would put us out of our collective misery but dolan has not interest in that. He is making way too much money with revenue sharing.

That's baseball in Cleveland Ken. I've gotten used to it. I don't have any favorite players to root for anymore and the one's that I would like to root for are too expensive for this team's blood to sign. I will not be signing up with MLB TV this year, first time in about 6 years. I'm not going to waste my money.

I'll have to say that I had a great winter watching winterball from Panama, the Caribbean, Australia, and now, Cuba. Sad to say that I looked more forward to the winterball seson than I'm looking forward to the major league baseball season.

That is pretty sad to say. At the same time maybe you and Ken could start a "crybaby folder" . Would probably get read as much as your beer league folder.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Yankees are "honing in" on a decision involving A.J. Burnett.
The Pirates, with their willingness to assume around $13 million of the $33 million that Burnett is owed, are believed to be the current front-runner. But Olney says an unknown team -- possibly the Indians -- brought a proposal to the Yankees on Wednesday. Most signs point to some kind of trade agreement being struck by the end of this week. Burnett is currently scheduled to report to Yankees camp in Tampa, Florida on Sunday.

Watched the 1995 World Series against Atlanta today.

Was just as depressing as the original.

Lofton sure was a great player.

Wow, you have ventured where I have not. My 1995 World Series purchase is still in the original shrink wrap, as is the one from 1997.

Now, I do watch Game 6 of the ALCS of 1995 at least a few times a year. Kenny Lofton was a great player in that one, too. As was Dennis Martinez who many forget pitched through great pain in that victory.

From Matt Underwood:
Indians Closer Chris Perez shut down with left oblique soreness. It will be a 4-6 week recovery process. Indians hope to have him in games by end of spring training. Trainer Lonnie Soloff says, "His body wasn't ready for the intensity of his 1st bullpen session."

So our new CF is Aaron Cunningham? Platooning with Ezequiel Carrera?

Our new closer is Vinnie Pestano? Thinning out the "surplus" of relievers over the winter will probably be noticed very clearly as the roster is created and season develops. Zach Putnam and Josh Judy who were fringe candidates to make the 7 man bullpen are gone. When a few more relievers hit the DL, we'll have to start dealing extra infielders.
