As Cody loaded the bases, Grossman's hit into right field would have been fielded by a regular first baseman. It seemed like Yandy was holding the runner on, why, there was no place for the runner to go. If Yandy makes that play, we probably win. Sorry HB, he was out of position.

Sorry for him, but this is the big leagues. He is making a lot of money.

Guys who hit what he has the last couple seasons (and he is no gold glover) have to expect threats to their job.

He said it himself that if Josh Donaldson is like the old Josh Donaldson then it speaks for itself. This is an MVP type talent who only needs to perform for a month.

Even with his homer he now sits at .229 for the season. That speaks for itself too.

It's a no brainer. And again Antonetti can try to move Kipnis this offseason. At a major discount - because another factor is that Jose Ramirez just happens to be a gold glove caliber 2nd baseman who hits just a little...

Scrolling through posts from while I was away I noted:
Andre Knott just said since August 12th Yandy Diaz has hit 7 balls with exit velocities over 100 MPH. That is the most of any Indian player in that time frame.
Some report said that Yandy's final swing of the game last night resulted in a 108 MPH grounder to second with the bases loaded to end the rally? Honestly, if a 27 year old has not yet developed an ability to get the ball into the air not sure when that's going to happen. A slow runner who hits that hard and has little lift to his swing is quite a prime GIDP candidate.

Come on Yandy, get IT up!

Even before "launch angle" was a measurable trait, the ability to hit the ball in the air was a recognizable skill. Yandy's skill set does not match 21st century hitters. Maybe he would have been a good teammate of Nap Lajoie who hit 33 homers in 13 seasons with the Indians; and struck out 234 times over that period. Although Diaz' strikeouts are more of a modern frequency: 20% of his total at bats. And an unsurprising 9 GIDP which would convert to 21 over a full season. Last year he drew walks more often, only 2 this year. The result that he's recording a 701 OPS.
