Aaron Cunningham was in the package Oakland sent to San Diego to get Kevin Kouzmanoff.

The A's had Cunningham as part of the package they received for Dan Haren.

Apparently Cunningham had 144 AB's with Oakland over two seasons, but I don't remember him.

I had to look it up but Josh Phelps is a former Indian born in Alaska. Alaskan born MLB players are a short list. Eleven, according to Baseball Almanac, with Curt Schilling being the most notable.

Come to think of it, I threw snowballs one time in Alaska. On a ski plane ride that landed on a glacier at 14,000 feet on the way from Talkeetna to Denali. It was late June, 24 hours of daylight, and about 55 degrees at that elevation on that day. Great memory.

Mike Cameron - OF - Marlins

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Indians are in "serious talks" with free agent outfielder Mike Cameron.

Terry Pluto of Cleveland Plain-Dealer and Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reported earlier that the Tribe had interest in the veteran outfielder, and it sounds like something could get done soon. Cameron, who turns 39 in January, batted just .203/.285/.359 with nine homers and 27 RBI over 269 plate appearances this past season, but he would fit the Indians' need for a right-handed hitting outfielder.

Just what we need.....a 39 year old .203 hitter.

Who wrote that article....Mrs Cameron?

Have to believe the Mike Cameron gas tank was empty a couple of years ago.

Even on a minor league deal I just don't see any upside at all.

Cameron is a gamer. I have no information on him possibly being "gritty."


I'd welcome Mike Cameron as a Cleveland Indian. He's played balls to the wall his entire career.

Thought he'd retired a few years ago.

He and Cunningham and the guy from the Giants and Pie and Lopez would give us plenty of depth in RH not very good players.

Indians Have Not Ruled Out Pitching Upgrades

Earlier today we heard that the Indians are in "serious talks" with Mike Cameron and Andy LaRoche as they seek bench help, but MLB.com's Jordan Bastian says (on Twitter) the team still hasn't ruled out adding pitching yet. He wouldn't be surprised to see them add a reliever before Spring Training.

Cleveland's rotation is pretty well set with the ground ball heavy quartet of Ubaldo Jimenez, Derek Lowe, Fausto Carmona, and Justin Masterson, plus they have Josh Tomlin, Jeanmar Gomez, and David Huff to battle it out for the fifth spot. A free agent like Andy Sonnanstine or Clay Hensley could provide both rotation and bullpen insurance on a minor league contract, though that is just my speculation.

If you can get STO, you might want to watch some Indians replays that are on this week. Right now I'm watching Indians-Twins from 9/23/11. Thome is having a big night.

I like the little mores the Indians have made. Sizemore and Lowe are nice risk/reward pickups. No way would I give Willingham, Cuddyler, Kubel the money others did. Sign me up for a strong run at Derrick Lee. He can move to DH after this year and let's hope LaPorta gets it by next year. Don't know how many other ways Beltran can say 'NO' to Cleveland......

Another move or two is certainly coming before opening day.....

Jon Heyman of SI was talking on MLB Network tonight about the Tribe likely hooking up with Carlos Pena.

I wouldn't mind seeing Pena at first. He's still a pretty slick fielder. He hits for power just wish he was able to hit for a better average. He's due for a good season in that category. It would nice if it came this year while in an Indian uniform. Always liked Pena. Sweet Swing. I'd like to see this outfit take a chance on Pena.

I agree joez.

It would be nice to have a good glove man over at 1B for a change. And his power potential is interesting.

Reds Claim Josh Judy Off Waivers

The Reds have claimed Josh Judy off waivers from the Indians, reports MLB.com's Jordan Bastian (on Twitter). Judy was designated for assignment last week to clear room on the 40-man roster for the recently acquired Aaron Cunningham.

Judy, 25, was a 34th-round draft pick for the Tribe in 2007. He made his Major League debut last season, posting a 7.07 ERA in 14 innings out of the Cleveland bullpen. Judy has some impressive numbers over five seasons in the minors (career 2.81 ERA, 10.4 K/9 rate, 2.4 K/BB ratio), so it's not surprising he was claimed. Cincinnati's 40-man roster is now at 37.
